Department: Revenue Operations

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Bristol, UK

Reporting To: Ash Clayton

Compensation: Competitive salary commensurate with experience + comprehensive benefits package

Description

We’re building the next UK-headquartered engineering powerhouse. There is a gulf between the needs of mission-focused organisations and the development and delivery of the critical technology they rely on. The consequences of this are felt acutely by underserved frontline operators, demanding a new breed of engineering enterprise to bridge this divide. Rowden exists to meet this need. We design and build systems, infrastructure, and applications to deliver mission advantage to those working to protect the security of the UK and its allies. Rowden is setting a new standard in government technology provision: hyper-efficient engineering, better customer relationships, and rapid assimilation of commercial technology.  We are at an exciting juncture as we rapidly expand our portfolio of advanced AI solutions. We have developed several innovative product lines that combine cutting-edge hardware and software into integrated solutions tailored for the defence, national security, and first response sectors. Some of these products have already been successfully adopted by key customers, proving their value and impact in mission-critical environments. Our new Gen AI product line, which represents the next evolution of our technology, is currently entering an early adopter programme, attracting interest from industry leaders eager to leverage its capabilities. This is an emergent, high-potential area of our business that requires a dynamic Technical Sales Lead who can hit the ground running. We need someone who can immediately drive sales by converting leads into deals, capitalising on the momentum of our existing products, and pushing the new offerings into the market. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our cutting-edge solutions reach the right customers, helping them solve their most pressing challenges while driving significant growth for our business.

Key areas of responsibility

As Rowden’s Technical Sales Lead, you will be responsible for:
  • Your primary focus will be on meeting or exceeding sales targets by effectively positioning and selling Gen AI solutions to key stakeholders in defence, national security, and first response sectors. You’ll actively seek out, qualify, and manage leads with precision, building a steady pipeline of high-potential opportunities.
  • You’ll serve as a trusted advisor, developing and nurturing lasting relationships with key stakeholders across our customer base. By understanding their needs, you’ll drive product adoption and uncover new opportunities within existing accounts, ensuring we’re always adding value.
  • Whether you’re running a meeting, leading a presentation, or delivering a product demo, you’ll be the one showcasing how our Gen AI products can make a real difference. You’ll tailor each interaction to speak directly to the specific challenges and goals of the customer, ensuring our solutions consistently meet their needs.
  • You’ll work closely with our product, marketing, and GTM teams to ensure we’re all on the same page when it comes to customer needs, product capabilities, and market positioning. Your insights will help shape sales materials—from pitch decks to demos—that hit the mark every time.
  • You’ll represent Rowden at key industry events, conferences, and tradeshows, enhancing brand visibility, gathering market insights, and generating new leads.
  • Working alongside the Go-To-Market (GTM) lead, you’ll contribute to strategic planning efforts that guide our expansion into new markets and support the extension of our product lines.

Key skills, experience and behaviours

We are looking for someone who is passionate about technology and who actively invests in their technical skills and abilities. You’ll gain loads of experience in this role but before you do, you should have:
  • A proven track record of closing deals in complex, customisable product environments, particularly within the defence, national security, and first response sectors.
  • A good understanding of integrated hardware and software solutions, with the ability to effectively communicate their technical benefits to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, able to hit the ground running and independently drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to quickly identify and capitalise on opportunities, leveraging existing products’ momentum and strategically positioning new offerings.
  • Expertise in building and maintaining long-term, trust-based relationships with key stakeholders, tailored to their specific needs.
  • Strong negotiation skills and commercial understanding, capable of managing complex sales cycles and aligning proposals with customer and company objectives.
  • Ability to adapt sales strategies in response to dynamic market conditions and emerging trends.
  • Experience in successfully launching and driving adoption of new products in evolving markets.
Desirable experience:
  • An understanding of the latest industry trends and customer pain points within the defence, national security and first response industries would be advantageous.
  • Experience in selling products to international markets, with an understanding of the nuances of global defence and security dynamics.
About you The ideal candidate will have a strong balance of technical skills and experience, and the behavioural competencies that we believe are key to success in the role are as follows:
  • You turn plans into action with a strong focus on achieving practical, tangible results.
  • You communicate clearly and persuasively, effectively conveying complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • You actively engage in every aspect of customer relationships, from initial contact to long-term partnership.
  • You adapt quickly to changing circumstances, maintaining focus and delivering results even in dynamic environments.
  • You take ownership of your work, consistently following through and ensuring high standards are met.
  • You approach challenges with creativity and resourcefulness, bringing fresh ideas that strengthen our market position.
  • You’re a team player who works seamlessly across functions, building collaboration and consensus to drive successful sales outcomes.
