Introduction

The internship is on-site at the San Diego campus and will be 12 weeks during summer 2025. Applicants must be enrolled in a program through at least fall 2025.

Job Mission

The mission of this position is to understand, extend, and enable consumption of the ASML enterprise / business process data foundation in order to realize business benefits and improvements to support our aggressive business growth and new requirements in business insight, business capabilities, and integration as well as technical data volume, data processing, and trusted data enablement for ASML US teams. This position demands to engage with business clients and implement or enhance data integration flows with our data virtualization platform (Denodo), SQL and Spotfire, Supplement team capacity in order to meet growing Cymer Light Source business demand for data access and integration across business critical data sources across the enterprise. Gain a deeper understanding of how data is managed, manipulated, and made available to support decision making and address business questions.

Job Description

  • Contribute to the development of data foundational objects in business critical platforms, Denodo and SQL and promoting to production.
  • Document and log existing data assets and the connections between them in support of our Data Governance program, using Collibra. This will include cataloging existing data sets, data elements and existing reports, as well as visualizing the connections between them through diagrams.
  • Play a key role in creating visibility that drives simplification and adoption of various data assets, as part of data governance program, which is critical to understand our enterprise data landscape.
  • Participate in all phases of project life cycle starting  from Requirements gathering to testing to move to prod.
  • Communicate the results both verbally and written.
  • Actively participate in relevant Scrum and SAFe rituals and take part in continuous journey toward a more agile organization
  • Interns will typically be required to document and present their findings as well as making an end of summer presentation to the group about what they achieved during their internship

Education and Experience

  • Graduate student majoring in Computer Science, Data Analytics or Information Systems with a GPA of 3.0 or above. Must be currently in school.
  • Expertise with open source or commercial data integration tools (Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Informatica, etc.)
  • Expertise with structured content and databases / repositories (Microsoft SQL Server)
  • Expertise with agile and development pipeline including test automation frameworks (Jira, Jenkins, Cucumber, etc.)
  • Familiar with data impact analysis, software development practices, and data architecture concepts
  • Experience with Data Virtualization, Data Modeling, Data Management techniques and tools

Skills & Competencies

  • Hands on experience with database management systems such as SQL
  • Programming skills in Python, Java, or other relevant languages
  • Denodo or other comparable data virtualization development skills is a Plus.
  • Candidates should possess a strong understanding of APIs and be familiar with their associated tools, such as Postman, and REST client applications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn about data integration and virtualization technologies
  • Ability to complete assignments with attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
  • Work independently or as part of a team and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision
  • A proactive attitude towards problem-solving and continuous improvement

Other Information

  • This position is located on-site in San Diego, CA.  It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation.
  • Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move around the campus.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
