Meet the team:

The Device Drivers Team builds software solutions to integrate hardware sensor devices across all perception and navigation modalities, providing access to these data for various autonomy consumers within Torc. The drivers are also responsible for configuring the devices, monitoring the health of the hardware, and ensuring the quality and integrity of the data products. The team regularly interfaces with external device partners to triage issues and provide feedback when necessary to improve the overall solution.

What you’ll do:

As the Engineering Manager – Device Drivers, you will lead a team of seven software engineers responsible for developing and integrating sensor drivers. You will work closely with external sensor suppliers, internal autonomy teams, and hardware engineers to ensure seamless driver functionality.

  • Build, lead, coach, and develop a team of seven software engineers
  • Accountable and responsible for career development and coaching of the team. Accountable and responsible for performance management of the team.
  • Accountable and responsible for ensuring continuous performance feedback is delivered and compensation analysis in close collaboration with peer managers and People Operations.
  • Develop drivers for Radar and LiDAR sensors using supplier libraries.
  • Develop SOME/IP interfaces for sensor drivers.
  • Develop Camera Drivers using GSML2 and NVIDIA DriveOS.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field engineering equivalent & 10+ years of relevant technical experience. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 4+ years of Engineering Management Experience
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Deep knowledge Device Driver Development.
  • Deep knowledge of C++ and Linux.
  • Experience in the certification process of automotive products, such as ASPICE.
  • Ability to coach and thrive in an agile development environment.

  • Hands-on mentality: Despite your leadership role, you are not afraid to get involved in coding and debugging.
  • Experience with SOME/IP and ROS2.
  • Experience with NVIDIA DriveOS & GSML2
  • Experience with sensor drivers for LiDAR, Camera or Radar.
