The Global Supply Chain Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) organization serves as the cornerstone for strategic direction, technical expertise, and operational support within GSK's Global Supply Chain network. Position Overview

As the Director of Data Science Modeling and Analytics, you will lead the charge in establishing and guiding the data science journey within the MSAT organization. Focused on product and process analytics, you will contribute to GSK's broader digitalization initiatives. Your role involves crafting and implementing a comprehensive analytics strategy for manufacturing, leveraging advanced techniques such as data analytics, digital twins, and AI/ML. You will lead a team of data scientists to extract insights from structured and unstructured data sources, driving informed decision-making and problem-solving across the organization.
 


Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Data Science team, guiding day-to-day activities, prioritization, and personal development initiatives.

  • Develop and execute Proof of Concepts (PoCs) in Data Science, leveraging Azure Data Lake and related manufacturing software, and ensure successful deployment across targeted sites.

  • Integrate software engineering and chemometric analysis into advanced analytics efforts, ensuring comprehensive data-driven insights.

  • Define and monitor KPIs to measure the ROI of Data Science initiatives, demonstrating the tangible impact of digitalization projects.

  • Foster collaboration across departments and external partners to maximize the impact of Data Science and Analytics initiatives.

  • Act as a change agent, driving organizational awareness and engagement with Data Science capabilities and opportunities.

  • Cultivate a culture of Agile methodology, promoting flexibility and adaptability within cross-functional teams.

  • Implement and optimize Data Analytics tools such as Spotfire, Pi Vision, and Power BI to support manufacturing data analysis.

  • Lead product investigations using data-driven techniques, collaborating with subject matter experts to identify hypotheses and potential causes.

  • Architect, design, and develop datasets, models, and dashboards to facilitate data analysis and problem-solving.

  • Present findings and insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders, fostering understanding and driving actionable outcomes.

  • Stay abreast of emerging data science technologies and techniques, leading experimentation efforts to explore their potential applications.



Why you? 

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor’s, Master's or PhD in a related scientific discipline (e.g., chemical engineering, chemistry, pharmacy).

  • Alternatively, an MSC/MEng or postgraduate degree in Data Science, accompanied by an extensive number of years’ experience in Development or Manufacturing Process Development, with a focus on data science and analytics.

  • Expertise in mathematical modelling, data architecture, project management, and change management.

  • Proven leadership and people management skills, with experience in Agile development methodologies.

  • Innovative mindset with a passion for driving continuous improvement and digital transformation.


Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to simplify the complex. Ability to effectively manage stakeholder expectations.

  • Ability to learn quickly and apply those learnings for the benefit of the team and organization.

  • Experience with building and deploying digital twins, a digital representation of the physical manufacturing process.

  • Biopharmaceutical manufacturing experience is a plus but not mandated.
