As a Data Scientist in Herndon, Virginia, you'll support the prestigious SITE III DO contract, enabling mission-critical applications for the U.S. Intelligence Community. Help sustain and evolve the global Human Intelligence (HUMINT) apparatus and supporting partners while working on high-impact projects.
What You’ll Do
As a Mid-Level Data Scientist, your responsibilities will include:
- Analyzing unstructured and semi-structured data, including latent semantic indexing (LSI), entity identification and tagging, and complex event processing (CEP).
- Applying analysis algorithms on distributed, clustered, and cloud-based high-performance infrastructures.
- Utilizing creative, non-traditional approaches to analyze large-scale data for high-value use cases, visualized through multidimensional interfaces.
- Processing and indexing high-volume collections of data and managing high-velocity data streams.
- Using advanced tools to interpret, connect, predict, and deliver insights for business and analytic decisions.
- Developing and deploying applications using open-source (e.g., Java, Linux, Python) or Windows (.NET, C#) development stacks.
- Working with data transport and transformation technologies like JSON, XML, XSLT, JDBC, SOAP, and REST.
- Leveraging cloud-based tools such as Hadoop, Mahout, Accumulo, Hive, Impala, and Pig for data analysis.
- Using visual analytic platforms like Microsoft Pivot, Palantir, or Visual Analytics.
- Employing open-source textual processing tools like Lucene, Solr, and Nutch.
- Implementing entity extraction and conceptual search technologies (e.g., LSI, LDA).
- Applying machine learning, algorithm analysis, and data clustering techniques to support mission goals.
What You’ll Bring
- A strong foundation in engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related field, with robust computational skills.
- Proven experience developing applications and analyzing unstructured and semi-structured data in high-performance computing environments.
- Proficiency in cloud-based data analysis tools, visual analytics, and data transport/transformation technologies.
- Expertise in machine learning, textual processing, and algorithm optimization.
- A passion for making discoveries in big data and turning insights into actionable recommendations.

Qualifications
5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
Required Qualifications:
- Requires Bachelor's degree in related field of study with 5 or more years of experience. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Active TS clearance adjudication with SCI OR SCI eligibility and current poly or the ability to obtain polygraph
- Python scripting, Pandas, Excel
- Jupyter Notebooks
- Data Analysis, Engineering and Enrichment
- Strong testing and verification skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high visibility environment
- Full time work in a SCIF is required, but hours are flexible
Desired Qualifications:
- Security+ or other IAT II/III level certification that is currently active
- ArcGIS automation and modeling
- Experience with SAFEHOUSE web GIS platform
- Active TS/SCI w/Poly

Target Salary Range
$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
