Summer 2025 Internship Program:

- Program Dates: June 2 – August 8, 2025
- Time Commitment: 40 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need.
- Format: Opportunities listed will require an intern to work from New York, NY.

Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:
- Peacock Consumer Insights: The Peacock Consumer Insights Team supplies insights in support of strategic objectives to stakeholders across the organization, including the Content Strategy, Content Development & Marketing teams. As an intern on our team, you will be exposed to a variety of quantitative and qualitative primary research methodologies and gain experience in analyzing the output to provide actionable insights for the business.
- Data Science Innovation & AI: We are seeking a passionate candidate to work in the Media Group Data Science Innovation & AI team on finding innovative approaches of applying Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Media Science to NBCU business. If you are enthusiastic about learning new technologies and finding ways to quickly apply them to critical company objectives through rapid prototyping and cross-functional team collaboration, this internship is ideal for you. As the intern, you’ll get to leverage generative AI, machine learning, reinforcement learning, and data mining, to support innovation initiatives in critical business areas and tackle challenging problems with a direct impact on companies OKRs.
- Research Operations: The Analytics, Insights & Measurement team utilizes new data measurement approaches, advanced analytics & tools, to present unified measurement of data across the media landscape, as well as analytics and insights across the NBCU brands. The Research Operations team is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of ratings that power billions in business across NBCU by managing programs, program details, schedules, and affiliate lineups that are utilized in the creation of Nielsen ratings. The intern’s role will be to assist our team with submitting schedule information for NBC Broadcast and 1-2 of the Entertainment cable networks to Nielsen to ensure programming is reported accurately. The intern would also be involved with helping to link and release VOD assets for NBC Broadcast and Peacock to Nielsen, as well as assisting with ad hoc projects that may come up.
- Media Group, Data Engineering: The Media Group Data Engineering team is responsible for delivering data and tooling for a variety of analytics in the Decision Sciences Department. The intern will get to design, build, test, scale and maintain data pipelines, and work with other engineers in story definition, assisting business stakeholders. The intern will get to develop solutions combining data blending, profiling, mining, statistical analysis, and machine learning, to better define and curate models, test hypothesis, and deliver key insights for our broad range of internal clients.
- Distribution & Strategic Analytics: Situated within the Media Group division’s Distribution & Strategic Analytics group, this research role offers a wide-lens view of the media & entertainment landscape. The intern will be involved in monitoring the distribution landscape and how NBCU falls within it. Spanning new and traditional media platforms and supporting technologies to help inform timely projects related to programming, distribution, and promotional strategies. As the intern, you’ll get to support the build out and tracking of content shared across linear & streaming platforms and organize and summarize media consumption data to position NBCU favorability in distribution discussions.
- DTC Product Analytics, Experimentation: We are seeking an Intern to help support our Experimentation efforts across multiple Product teams (Viewing, Commerce, Personalization, and Editorial). With the vast amount of content available from NBCUniversal and the ever-evolving and fast-paced product development of Peacock, we will need a smart and capable individual to support the A/B and multivariate testing lifecycle, spanning from sifting through large amounts of data for insights into experimentation, generating informed hypotheses and objectives for data-informed prioritization, designing and conducting tests for statistical significance in continuous and iterative optimization, to analyzing testing results and presenting data-driven actions to a multifunctional team of stakeholders in business and technology.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (June 2025 through August 2025). May 2025 graduates are not eligible for our Summer 2025 Internship Program.
- Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
- Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
- Must be willing to work in New York, NY.
For further clarification, candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.
NBCUniversal is an E-Verify company, requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number. Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.
Desired Characteristics:
- Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
- For Peacock Consumer Insights: Working towards a degree required in a relevant field (Business, Market Research, Psychology, Sociology, Statistics, etc.). Statistics knowledge and experience required; ability to conduct advanced statistical analysis like factor or conjoint analysis is a plus but not required. Experience with a statistical analysis tool like R, SPSS and/or survey analysis software like Marketsight, Alchemer, or SurveyMonkey preferred.
- For Data Science Innovation & AI: Understanding of LLM Agent development approaches including multi-step planning, reasoning, and tools interaction. Understanding of OpenAI functions, AutoGPT, BabyAGI, and Plan-and-execute agents. Experience with deep learning using TensorFlow. Experience with Google AI Platform/Vertex AI, Kubeflow and Airflow. Working towards a degree with specialization in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or another quantitative field or equivalent. Working knowledge of Python and SQL. Familiarity with cloud platforms.
- For Research Operations: Working knowledge of Nielsen systems & applications and Tableau.
- For Media Group Data Engineering: Experience of Batch Data Pipeline development (including SQL). Programming skills in a language such as Java, Scala, Python and experience in writing reusable/efficient code to automate data processes. Experience in processing structured and unstructured data into a form suitable for analysis and reporting with integration with a variety of data metric providers ranging from advertising, web analytics, and consumer devices. Hands on programming experience of the following (or similar) technologies: Kubernetes, Apache Spark, and Snowflake. Experience building streaming data pipelines using PubSub, Kafka, Spark or Flink.
- For Distribution & Strategic Insights: Experience with Tableau, Domo, or SQL. Experience in quantitative analysis. Advanced knowledge of Excel.
- For DTC Product Analytics, Experimentation: Familiar with statistical skills in applying hypothesis testing, calculating critical value, defining p-value, and using z-test, t-test, ANOVA, or chi-square test. Proficiency of at least one programming language for data analysis (i.e., Python, R) and cloud-based relational SQL database management systems. Familiarity or experience setting up tests with A/B/N testing tools, and experimental design. Some knowledge of digital analytics platforms and visualization tools. Familiarity of complex machine learning frameworks.
The hourly rate for undergraduate student interns is $30.00.
The hourly rate for graduate student interns is $35.00.
