Our Data Science team is responsible for developing in-house AI solutions that assist/automate decision-making across the business. We work closely with our allied product, analytics, visualisation, and engineering teams, as well as our business stakeholders to deliver data products that deliver demonstrable business value. We are the business's machine learning, simulation, and optimisation subject matter experts

Responsibilities of the role: 

Technical contribution

  • Collaborate on cross-functional deliveries with colleagues from our allied teams: Product, Analytics, Science, Visualisation and Engineering
  • Contribute to the design of data science solutions
  • Contribute to the Agile development of our data science products 
  • Conduct code reviews, ensuring team standards are met
  • Design and deliver analyses that guide future development work

Coaching, Mentoring, and Team Building

  • Identify opportunities for team upskilling
  • Take ownership of one of our strategic initiatives: i.e. ML Ops, coding standards, training etc. 
  • Help deliver team training sessions
  • Pair program with other data scientists

Essential requirements

  • Practical experience building data science products in a commercial setting
  • Deep technical knowledge in one or more data science topics: machine learning, simulation, forecasting, optimisation, operations research, etc.
  • Strong proficiency with Python, SQL, and the data science stack (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, etc.)
  • Cloud deployment experience (ML Ops) - Ideally on AWS or Azure - relevant certifications desirable

Desirable experience

  • Experience working in an Agile development team
  • Research background in a highly numerate field
  • Open-source contributions
