We are seeking a Staff Data Scientist to join our data science team in Austin. This individual contributor role will be responsible for driving data-driven decision making across the organization. They will collaborate with business stakeholders, understand their problems, and design data-based solutions for them. Key responsibilities include:
1. Develop and implement machine learning models, perform data analysis, and create predictive models to support the Sales and Client Services teams.
2. Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to understand their data science needs and provide solutions.
3. Conduct research to identify new methods and techniques to improve existing models.
4. Create visualizations to communicate complex data and insights in a clear and effective manner.
5. Ensure data quality throughout all stages of acquisition and processing, including data cleaning, normalization, and transformation.
6. Continually monitor and evaluate the performance of the models.
7. Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
8. Maintain clear and coherent communication, both verbal and written, to understand data needs and report results.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Basic Qualifications
5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications
6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
6+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, AI, or a related field.
Proficient in Python, R, SQL, and other data science tools.
Experience with big data platforms like Hadoop, Spark, or similar technologies.
Strong knowledge of machine learning techniques and algorithms.
Experience with Generative AI techniques.
Familiarity with Large Language Models such as OpenAI's GPT-3, and open-source models like Falcon or Llama2.
Proficient in Machine Learning Operations (MLOps), including deployment and maintenance of machine learning models.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Familiarity with the sales and client services industry is a plus.
Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure is good to have.
Knowledge of data privacy and security principles.
Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau, PowerBI, or similar.
Ability to work in a team and independently as required.
Proficient in using Git and version control systems.
Experience in working with unstructured data.
Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
