The Senior Backend Engineer will help build a new consumer-facing AI product that enables users to generate personalized cards—such as wedding menus—based on user specifications. A proof of concept has already been developed externally, and the internal team is now working toward building and launching the MVP by the end of June. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong Python backend skills, experience with AWS infrastructure, and a solid understanding of integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) into product experiences.
Collaborate with the engineering team and product stakeholders to build core backend features for the MVP.
Develop and maintain scalable microservices using Python and PostgreSQL.
Integrate and optimize LLMs to power AI-driven content generation.
Contribute to foundational system design decisions alongside senior engineers.
Set up APIs and manage data flows to support the AI product.
Ensure application performance, security, and scalability.
Write clear, maintainable code and documentation.
Participate in code reviews, standups, and sprint planning.
4+ years of experience as a backend engineer building consumer-facing applications.
Strong proficiency in Python and experience building microservices.
Experience working with PostgreSQL, including writing complex queries and optimizing performance.
Solid understanding of AWS services (e.g., Lambda, EC2, RDS, S3).
Exposure to integrating or fine-tuning LLMs or other generative AI tools.
Familiarity with RESTful API design and best practices.
Strong debugging, testing, and problem-solving skills.
Collaborative mindset and experience working closely with product and design teams.
