We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Legal Specialist / Paralegal with expertise in data privacy, artificial intelligence (AI), and emerging technologies. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with global data privacy laws, supporting the legal team's efforts in navigating the complexities of new tech regulations, and mitigating risks associated with evolving legal landscapes.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Privacy and Compliance:
- Review, draft, and negotiate Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) and other data privacy-related contracts.
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) to evaluate risks and compliance requirements for new projects and technologies.
- Ensure compliance with regulations such as the GDPR, CCPA, and other global data privacy laws.
Privacy Tools and Technology Expertise:
- Utilize tools such as OneTrust to manage privacy compliance programs, conduct assessments, and maintain records.
- Provide expertise in implementing and maintaining privacy technology solutions.
Policy Development and Implementation:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align privacy and technology strategies with legal obligations.
- Maintain up-to-date privacy documentation, including policies, procedures, and training materials.
Regulatory Monitoring and Reporting:
- Stay informed of legislative developments in data privacy, technology law, and AI-related regulations globally.
- Prepare reports and presentations for internal stakeholders on the implications of new laws.
AI and Emerging Technology Regulations:
- Monitor, analyze, and advise on new laws and regulations related to artificial intelligence, machine learning, and other emerging technologies.
- Develop internal policies and guidelines to address compliance with AI-related regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in law, paralegal studies, or a related field. Advanced certifications in data privacy (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM) are preferred.
- Experience:
- Proven experience as a paralegal or legal specialist in data privacy, technology law, or a related area.
- Hands-on experience with OneTrust or similar privacy management tools.
- Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of global data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, CPRA) and emerging AI regulations.
- Experience in DPAs and tech contracts (e.g., SaaS, licensing agreements, and IP agreements).
- Familiarity with legal and regulatory frameworks for AI and new technologies.
- Familiarity with ISO 27001 or other security standards is a plus.
- Skills:
- Excellent contract review, drafting, and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and communication skills to convey complex legal concepts effectively.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office: advanced use of Word (document drafting, formatting, reviewing, and track changes), PowerPoint (developing presentations for internal and external stakeholders), and Outlook (email management, scheduling, and meeting coordination).
- Experience using platforms such as SharePoint for document storage, version control, and collaboration.
- Experience with e-signature tools like DocuSign or Adobe Acrobat Sign for contract execution.
