The Team
ByteDance's AI Legal Team provides front-line legal support to the company's AI products and services. The team is growing fast and seeking highly experienced, bright, and capable AI legal counsel to join us. The role is critical to ByteDance's AI initiative by driving support for ByteDance's AI Product launches, assisting to shape the Company's developing AI policies and procedures to comply with the global evolving AI laws, and building authentic relationships with the broader technology community. The position will work closely with and report to a senior AI legal team lead based in Dublin, Ireland.

Responsibilities
- Serve as a key legal advisor to manage and protect the company's AI-related IP, data privacy and cybersecurity legal risks; liaise with other senior AI product counsel and legal subject matter expert teams as needed.
- Collaborate with the Company's AI product, TnS, Legal, GR, and PR stakeholders to establish and implement responsible the global AI governance framework (policies, standards and best practices), including mitigating the associated safety, bias, fairness and transparency risks.
- Identify, assess, and communicate the rapidly evolving global AI regulatory requirements and trends; support implementations by the product teams.
- Assist with drafting and negotiating AI-related contracts, including licensing and data usage agreements - Work closely with other AI counsel and other cross-functional colleagues on evolving AI thought leadership and policy areas relating to generative AI.
- Stay informed of the evolving global AI laws and regulations, including but not limited to the EU AI Act as well as other related laws including the GDPR and the DSA; ensure the Company's AI products and services have been developed and deployed to comply with these laws and regulations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- Qualified to practice law in the jurisdiction in which the lawyer is located.
- Proven tech in-house and private practice legal expertise in AI and ML legal and policy issues relating to technology platform companies; (iii) Experience in European and global privacy laws, including GDPR.
- Experience providing product legal advice to technology companies in areas including content regulation and IP. - Have a track record of achieving alignment with internal cross-functional teams and external partners.
- A confident self-starter with strong communications, interpersonal and organizational skills, yet with creative mind, and demonstrate the ability to effectively and proactively exercise good judgment and partner with the business in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience at a similar company or within the AI industry.
