The Legal team is essential to our business. We seek to add a detail-oriented, tech savvy, and intellectually curious Senior Counsel to our Privacy and Regulatory practice group who will focus on our telco-regulated products. Reporting to the Company’s Deputy General Counsel for Privacy and Regulatory, and responsible for supervising another attorney, the successful candidate will play a key role in providing risk-based counsel to product teams, scaling and enhancing GoTo’s telco compliance program, and supporting GoTo’s privacy and AI programs.

Your Day to Day

As a Legal Counsel, Privacy and AI, you would:

  • Manage the privacy and AI operations function, which is responsible for implementation and oversight of GoTo’s privacy and AI management technology (including with respect to records of processing activities, privacy impact assessments / data protection impact assessments, automated processing risk assessments, data subject request triage and management); triaging requests, inquiries and complaints from internal and external stakeholders; and supporting the management of privacy and AI program governance.
  • Ensure compliance with US and international privacy and AI law and best practices, including by (i) research and track global privacy and AI legislation and provide business with actionable guidance; (ii) answering questions from regulators, customers, and other internal and external stakeholders; and (iii) coordinating with external counsel as needed.
  • Educate GoTo employees and executive leadership on privacy and AI trends and compliance obligations.
  • Proactively partner with internal clients across the organization to help ensure that legal, privacy, and AI compliance considerations are embedded into process design and implementation, and that risk identification and mitigation strategies are timely identified and addressed.
  • Support business functions in developing privacy-related processes and standards.
  • Collaborate with legal department colleagues and serve as subject matter expert on matters related to privacy and AI compliance, including supporting contract negotiations.
  • Draft and train on privacy and cookie notices, agreement templates, corporate policies, and standards of practice designed to address the Company’s legal requirements in a risk-based manner.

What We’re Looking For

As a Legal Counsel, Privacy and AI, your background will look like:

  • J.D., LLB, or equivalent from an accredited law school; admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., through registered in-house counsel status) in your jurisdiction of residence.
  • Minimum of 5 years of law firm or in-house experience, preferably at a global technology company.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting, developing, and enhancing data global data privacy, AI, and information security programs, including developing contract templates, policies, standards and training.
  • A team player with an excellent work ethic and demonstrated ability to think creatively to find practical, actionable solutions to complex issues.
  • Ability to work and communicate clearly across all levels of the organization, including in Information Security, People, Marketing, Security, Sales, and other key functions.
  • Proven ability to organize, prioritize and manage a variety of complex or multi-faceted tasks simultaneously.
  • CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, AIGP certification(s) desirable.

Annual Base Salary Range: $163,000.00 - $270,000.00

The above shows our ranges from minimum to maximum. Your compensation will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. You will also be eligible for a variable pay component and benefits.
