As a member of our Legal team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to impactful projects and collaborate with diverse teams, driving our commitment to ethical and compliant AI and digital solutions.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Legal Counsel specialized in Digital and AI to join our team in Basel. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the EU AI Act (as well as knowledge of global AI regulatory efforts) and other relevant Digital and Data regimes, providing expert legal guidance to support our exciting digital transformation initiatives.

The Opportunity:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay apprised of and provide insights on the EU AI Act (including global AI regulatory frameworks) and other pertinent digital and data regulations. Ensure that Roche's AI and digital initiatives comply with all relevant legal requirements.

  • Legal Analysis and Advice: Conduct comprehensive legal analysis and deliver strategic advice on various digital and AI matters, including data economy, data privacy, intellectual property, and compliance risks.

  • Policy Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and monitor adherence with company policies and best practices concerning AI and digital technology usage.

  • Contract Review: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to digital health and AI projects, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and company objectives.

  • Training and Awareness: Provide training and updates to internal stakeholders on legal developments related to digital and AI regulations, fostering a culture of compliance and ethical practices.

  • Networking and Representation: Serve as a liaison with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, industry associations, and legal experts, to stay updated on industry trends and advocate for Roche's interests.

Who You Are:

  • Educational Background: University Degree in Law plus Bar Exam, ideally with a focus on technology law, data privacy, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of professional legal experience, with a proven track record in digital health, AI, data protection, or a related domain.

  • Regulatory Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the EU AI Act (basic knowledge of US AI/digital matters) and other relevant digital and data legal frameworks.

  • Skills:

    • Strong analytical and system-thinking abilities, capable of understanding complex regulatory landscapes.

    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the capacity to influence and engage diverse stakeholders.

    • A proactive and collaborative team player, able to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

    •  Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective professional networks within the legal and digital health communities.
