OpenAI’s Global Affairs team leads efforts to build trust and understanding of OpenAI’s work among policymakers and key stakeholders worldwide. Internally, the team helps foster understanding of how policymakers, responding to public concerns about risks, approach AI regulation.

About the Role

The Global Affairs team at OpenAI is investing in the next generation of policy professionals. We are looking for a highly motivated Global Affairs Intern to join our fast-paced and dynamic team for the summer of 2025. This internship offers a unique and thrilling opportunity to be at the forefront of the intersection between technology and global governance. You will work on high-impact projects that span public policy, international relations, and economic frameworks, gaining unparalleled hands-on experience in navigating the complex and ever-evolving world of AI regulation and stakeholder engagement.

What You'll Do

  • Support research and analysis on global AI regulations, public policy trends, and geopolitical considerations

  • Assist in drafting briefing materials, reports, and communications for internal and external stakeholders

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to help drive initiatives related to national and global partnerships that drive public policy outcomes

  • Monitor and track key policy developments, industry best practices, and competitive intelligence in AI governance

  • Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing efforts by synthesizing insights and presenting key findings

  • Assist in organizing events, workshops, and engagements with global partners, policymakers, and industry leaders

Who You Are

  • Must have at least one semester of schooling left after the completion of your internship

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Political Science, Public Policy, International Relations, Economics, History, Law or Business a plus, but not required

  • Passionate about the intersection of technology, public policy, and global affairs

  • Strong analytical, research, and writing skills, with the ability to synthesize complex topics into clear insights

  • A proactive problem-solver with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Effective communicator and collaborator, comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Familiarity with AI, emerging technologies, or regulatory frameworks is a plus, but not required
