Job Description:

This Director, HPC & AI Finance role will support the HPE High-performance Compute and Artificial Intelligence (HPC/AI) segment for the company.


The Director will partner closely with the business to ensure that financial strategies and plans are operationally supported and aligned to drive growth and profitability in the HPC/AI segment. This role will involve hands-on financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting to influence business decisions and deliver results. The Director will also ensure compliance with financial policies, controls, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), while maintaining a strong focus on operational excellence and business partnership.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the Director, HPC & AI Finance and a key business partner to the SVP, GM HPC/AI Leader, as well as the HPC/AI leadership team.
  • Collaborates with business leaders to assess financial performance, track progress against budgets and forecasts, and provide actionable insights for both short- and long-term growth.
  • Performs detailed financial analyses (e.g., profit & loss, balance sheet, cash flow, pricing, and investment appraisals) to inform strategic decisions within the HPC/AI business.
  • Oversees the forecasting process for the HPC/AI segment (weekly, monthly, and long-term), ensuring alignment with business and corporate objectives.
  • Partners with cross-functional teams to analyze key business initiatives, product launches, and new service offerings to understand financial impact and ROI.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of financial strategies, ensuring alignment with business goals and corporate priorities.
  • Drives process improvements and identifies opportunities for operational efficiency within the finance function of the HPC/AI segment.
  • Ensures adherence to financial controls and compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP) and corporate policies.
  • Supports leadership in evaluating significant deals, capital expenditures, and other high-impact business decisions.
  • Partners with internal and external audit teams to ensure proper financial reporting and compliance.
  • Prepares and delivers timely, accurate, and insightful financial reports and presentations to senior business leaders.

Education and Experience Required:

  • First level university degree in business (Accounting or Finance) or economics; advanced degree and/or accounting certification (e.g., CPA, MBA) strongly preferred.
  • Typically 10+ years of experience in a finance function or exhibiting an exceptionally strong background in some other relevant and applicable area of business.
  • Typically 5+ years of people management experience.
  • Experience working in/with HPC and AI business environments.
  • Proven expertise in finance, including management of P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow.
  • Familiarity with HPE products and services, with a focus on AI, purchasing processes, inventory management, and manufacturing operations.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Superior ability to provide finance consultation to senior managers within area of expertise.
  • Superior understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis, with commitment to transparency.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbally and written to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence and executive presence – ability to motivate staff.
  • Ability to effectively analyze significant amount of data information and filter it to key points helping management to analyze risks and opportunities.  Excellent reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build executive-level partnerships across functions and businesses.
  • Strong influencing, organization, leadership and negotiating skills.
  • Superior people management and development skills, including managing senior teams across geographies.
  • Ability to tailor and communicate information to a variety of audiences, ranging from senior business executives to analysts.
  • Excellent project management and prioritization skills.
