Federal Reserve Bank of MinneapolisThe Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis has an exciting opportunity for individuals with data science experience. The successful candidate will become a part of the Production Function within the National Stress Testing Program. The individual will work with complex datasets, a variety of statistical modeling techniques, and several programming languages. The individual will collaborate with other members of the Minneapolis-based team and interact with colleagues across the Federal Reserve System. The individual will utilize R and Python to implement models for annual Dodd-Frank Act stress tests, develop automated analytics, and support policy makers with ad hoc analysis. The individual will also get to interact with senior leaders across the Federal Reserve System.

Essential Duties:
- Use critical thinking to conceptualize, analyze, synthesize, and/or evaluate information to determine the appropriate strategies and solutions, after being given instructions and guidance and under regular supervision.
- Apply technical expertise, initiative, reliability, and judgment to help develop strategies for implementing new financial models and/or data analytics.
- Perform data extraction, cleaning, and organization.
- Assists in the transformation of large-scale datasets from external to internal systems in a manner suitable for analysis.
- Assists in end-to-end support of system, including identification of relevant data, development of data reporting forms/structures, gathering of data, storage of data, analysis of data, interpretation of analysis and data visualization.
- Supports mapping, maintenance, and enhancements of system databases.
- Implements and enhances data quality tests.
- Assists with process automation. Implements enhancements to automated processes.
- Work consists of procedures and tasks where quantitative analysis is required. Work requires technical skills including statistical modeling, programming, mathematics, finance, as well as subject matter knowledge (e.g., understanding of financial institutions and markets).
- May assist in the planning and design of projects involving modeling, data and financial analysis and operational functions.
- Complete project tasks and activities in a timely manner. May identify new initiatives/projects that will further the work of the organization.
- Prepare and deliver clear, accurate and concise communication orally and in writing.
- Share information and ideas regarding projects and work for Section/Project Teams/Division or external stakeholders. Present work at forums to share knowledge with others.
- Functions as a resource to the organization. Interacts with counterparts across the organization to gather information, pose questions, provide interpretation, and achieve objectives. Strong interpersonal skills needed to interact with outside contacts and other organizations
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or higher degree in a quantitative subject such as computer science, statistics, mathematics, physics, engineering, or degree in another subject such as finance, economics or relevant quantitative background. Master's or PhD preferred.
- 2 years of relevant experience
- Experience in open-source programing languages R (preferred) and/or Python including data processing, modeling, visualization, and documentation tools
- Knowledge of version control platforms such as Git and containerization such as Docker
- Expertise in management of data requirements and use of data in relational databases using SQL
- Experience with the software development life cycle and/or DevSecOps coding cultures preferred
- Experience developing, implementing, or validating statistical models
- Ability to quickly adapt to new and changing regulatory and financial industry environments
- Ability to effectively articulate issues and solution proposals in verbal and written form
- Ability to work independently in a matrix management structure as well as willingness to collaborate within a team
Salary & Benefits:
MPLS Salary Range: $94,700 - $118,387 - $142,100
Helena Salary Range: $85,200 - $106,549 - $127,900
