What You Will Do:
Data Scientist role will be part of a data analytics team supporting a large Intelligence Community Agency with data process improvement for GEOINT production. The team's objective is to help their office solve data challenges which can include a variety of data solutions depending on the task/project such as: visualization, analysis, automation or tool creation, applying Machine Learning techniques/processes, developing data pipelines via Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes, or DevSecOps. Given the diverse needs and skills required, the team works together to apply the right skills to each problem and further modernize the office's capacity to use data. Team also is responsible for creating performance metrics and business intelligence for business optimization through programming or data visualization software. Ideal candidate will be able to extract and analyze large and complex data, and to able to work with data analyst/visualization specialist teammates to select and apply the appropriate analytical techniques. Will work closely with clients towards goal of increasing organizational and production efficiency and provide knowledge of data science/engineering practices. Visualization and deployment of analyses and/or tools involves COTS software such as Tableau and ArcGIS, as well as web-based applications which can predict, explain, or analyze data. The candidate will coordinate with non-technical users to identify data analytics needs and use facilitation skills to elicit requirements from a diverse range of stakeholders.
The candidate should be comfortable working with cross-functional teams to understand client project requirements, analyze and visualize data, identify technical solutions, and communicate solutions/processes to non-technical stakeholders. The candidate must have the ability to translate complex problem sets, metrics and assessments into coherent, communications products. Lastly, the candidate must be able to identify and proactively address technical risks to technical process development.
What You Will Need:
An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED Top Secret with SCI (TS/SCI) Federal or DoD security clearance; must UPGRADE and MAINTAIN a Top Secret with SCI (TS/SCI) and Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph Federal or DoD security clearance
Bachelors degree
FIVE (5) or more years' of advanced knowledge and experience with at least two programming languages including Python
Experience working with geospatial data (such as vector or raster data, features, attributes, KML, GEOJSON, or shapefiles) and GIS analytical tools and databases (such as Esri or QGIS)
Experience with cloud development and deployment (priority platform: AWS)
Experience with Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes, accessing APIs, and data transfer tools
Experience building analytical tools and visualizing data
Experience with creating data pipelines and providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics including operational efficiency
What Would Be Nice To Have:
Experience with Tableau or other COTS data viz tools
Experience with open-source tools for collaboration and code storage such as Gitlab
Comply with project schedules and Agile development methodologies including daily/recurring Jira updates and code reviews
Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Familiarity with Elastic Stack capabilities
Familiarity with IC/DoD domain
