Job Description
As a valued colleague on our team, you will use moderately complex techniques to produce insights, new product or change recommendations, process improvement or automation, and predictive modeling. You will use data mining and data analysis methods, be adept with common large data processing techniques, computational programing capabilities, practical problem-solving skills, and have an ability to articulate solutions to non-technical consumers or partners. As a senior associate, you will partner with data engineering and data management teams, and apply data mining techniques to external or created data sources in preparation for analysis or use of enterprise data assets.

The Sr. Data Scientist role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:
- Collaborate with product and/or business owners, data engineers, and platform teams to understand business needs and current capabilities, data availability, and alternative uses.
- Implement new statistical modeling capabilities.
- Apply analytic capabilities and build upon advanced analytic capabilities to enhance the delivery of business applications, and support the integration of data and statistical models or algorithms. Apply industry practices in research and testing to product development, deployment, and maintenance.
- Design new modeling applications to support risk measurement, financial valuation, decision making, and business performance.
- Design data visualizations, technical documentation, and non-technical presentation materials to communicate complex ideas and solutions to business partners.
Qualifications
THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
Minimum Required Experiences:
- 2+ years in relevant mortgage and/or finance industry (business process optimization or real estate management functions preferred)
- Bachelors degree in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering Finance, Math, Physics, Statistics, or a related field
- Programming including coding, debugging, and using relevant programming languages (SQL, R including RShiny and Markdown)
- Skilled in the process of analyzing data to identify trends or relationships to inform conclusions about the data.
- Skilled at analytical storytelling, such as graphical representation of information in the form of charts, diagrams, pictures, and dashboards with programs and tools such as Tableau, R or Power BI. This also includes gathering accurate information and listening to explain concepts and answer critical questions.
- Expertise in building and using statistical methods, including testing hypotheses, sampling, using experimental design, running more traditional linear and logistic regressions, developing ML models, and implementing modeling applications.
- Skilled in the drafting of technical documentation to support both econometric analysis and system implementation.
- Communication including communicating in writing or verbally and planning and distributing communications, etc.
- Experience defining and managing changes to documents, code, computer programs, and other files to enable collaboration and ensure teams are working from the latest version, leveraging tools such as GitHub and Bitbucket.
Desired Experiences:
- Masters in Data Science, Economics, Math, Statistics, or a related field
- Partnering with people with different functional expertise respectfully and cooperatively to work toward a common goal.
- Ability to frame ideas as systems and analyzing the inputs, outputs, and process.
- The group of skills related to Business Insight including advising, designing business models, interpreting customer and market insights, forecasting, benchmarking, etc.
- The group of skills related to Influencing, including negotiating, persuading others, facilitating meetings, and resolving conflict.
- Adept at managing project plans, resources, and people to ensure successful project completion, leveraging tools such as JIRA.
- Skilled with operating on cloud Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure, and other AWS offerings, development, and networking platforms.
- Experience with teaching and/or advising less seasoned professionals in modeling techniques and approaches.
- Experience with the real estate valuation, sales, repairs and property preservation functions would be a plus.
