ManTech is seeking a Data Scientist to support our Marine Corps Intelligence Activity contract on MCB Quantico

This role requires an active DoD TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Knowledgeable of and demonstrates ability to apply IC and DoD classification guidelines and procedures
  • Demonstrates ability to work semi-independently with oversight and direction
  • Demonstrates ability to use logic when evaluating and synthesizing multiple sources of information
  • Demonstrates understanding of interpreting analysis to include, but not limited to, its meaning, importance, and implications
  • Demonstrates ability to defend analytic judgements with sound, logical conclusions and adapt analytic judgments when presented with new information, evolving conditions, or unexpected developments
  • Demonstrates ability to produce timely, logical, and concise analytic reports, documents, assessments, studies, and briefing materials in formats including Microsoft Office tools (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), electronic/ soft copy matrices and/ or web-enabled formats
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate complex issues clearly in a concise and organized manner both verbally and non-verbally, with strong grammar skills
  • Demonstrates ability to develop structured research including, but not limited to, obtaining, evaluating, organizing, and maintaining information within security and data protocols
  • Demonstrates ability to recognize nuances and resolve contradictions and inconsistencies in information
  • Demonstrates understanding of intelligence collection capabilities and limitations, to include but not limited to, technical sensors / platforms and human intelligence sources
  • Demonstrates understanding of evaluating collected intelligence reporting, engaging with collection managers, and developing collection requirements
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate understanding from information that may be incomplete, indirect, highly complex, seemingly unrelated, and / or technically advanced
  • Demonstrates ability to structure analysis based on trends in reporting and a range of analytic perspectives from other analysts, organizations, and intelligence disciplines
  • Demonstrates ability to collaborate and work with other IC members on information sharing, driving collection, and addressing analytic disputes and conflict resolution
  • Demonstrates ability to lead teams in researching multifaceted or critical problems. Provides guidance in selecting, designing, and applying analytic methodologies. Uses argument evaluation and validated analytic methodologies to challenge differing perspectives
  • Establish comprehensive plan for collecting, processing, exploiting, and managing publicly available information, ensuring flexibility to evolving requirements
  • Work with teammates to develop analytical models, tools, widgets, applications, etc.
  • Process, analyze, disseminate data (structured and unstructured), and incorporate results into usable products, typically finished intelligence and visual analysis or dashboards
  • Work with Cyber teams to ensure solutions meet rigorous security restrictions
  • Automate manual analytic processes, generate analytic models, and enable analysts to exploit data holdings (business process automation)
  • Establish advanced analysis and data visualization methodologies, models, and tools to derive/predict intelligence outcomes and impacts
  • Typical Skills desired include, but are not limited to: Python, R, Java, JavaScript, AngularJS, .NET, Hadoop, and Apache related technologies
  • Maintain leading edge processes as technology and mission needs change
  • Analyze current data sources and techniques and apply innovative and big data-driven problem-solving skills to analytic elements
  • Provide services related to data visualization and communication of complex quantitative concepts to non-technical audiences
  • The contractor shall provide tailored communications to innovation stakeholders in meetings, demos, and other customer engagements
  • The Contractor will apply specialized experience in statistics and machine learning algorithms
  • Determines methods of statistical analysis and applies statistical techniques to determine measures of tendency, correlation, sample size, significance of differences, etc.
  • Research pertinent literature in a designed project area and analyzes applicability of concepts
  • Collect, analyze, and restructure data (e.g., structured, unstructured, and mixed datasets), through the application of various statistical techniques or tools
  • Other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must possess an active TS/SCI DoD Clearance
  • Must possess a Bachelor of Science Degree and 8 years of experience, years of experience can replace degree requirements
  • Business process automation: analyze current processes and automate/suggest a better process
  • Familiar with scripting/programming languages such as, but not limited to: R, SAS, Python, MATLAB, Java, JavaScript, PowerShell, SQL, Hive, Pig, and Apache projects
  • Experienced in working with and exploiting big data; distributed computing; predictive modeling; mathematics; statistics; machine learning; story telling; visualization; etc.
  • Demonstrates ability to extract meaning from and interpret data using a variety of tools and methods from statistics and machine learning

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of standard DoD and Marine Corps concepts, practices, and procedures.  Familiarity with Navy/Marine Corps interoperability requirements is preferred
  • Knowledge of CZTK (OpenIO, Scraawl, Crimson Hex, Zignal) and Dataminr
  • Applied Science Degree and/or Advanced Degree preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%
