Full TimeThe ZEOS department is responsible for all partner-facing Zalando Logistics Solutions. We provide a holistic approach to delivering the fulfillment solutions that meet our partner’s needs by unifying these services under a single umbrella. We aim to provide our partners with a profitable fulfilment experience, and we see that to do this, Machine Learning, Operations Research and Data-driven solutions will play a pivotal role.
We are seeking a Junior Machine Learning who is fueled by the desire to build innovative and impactful ML/Scientific systems for our B2B logistics partners. You will join an existing team of Applied Scientists, and Machine Learning Engineers and work in a cross-functional setup with Product Managers, Data and Software Engineers.
The team’s focus is helping our B2B partners improve inventory health and order fulfilment efficiency. You will be deploying various ML/DL forecasting models (demand, returns, lead-times), stochastic inventory optimization solutions and recommendation services that generate these key insights for our partners and enable them to make data-driven decisions about their article assortment and inventory. You will play a key role in a cross-functional team!

You will work closely with Applied Scientists with the guidance of experienced MLEs to bring scientific solutions solving complex business problems to production.
Assist in designing, implementing and maintaining forecasting and inventory optimization solutions that will help our partners make informed decisions about their inventory and how it affects their profitability and growth options.
Collaborate with Software Engineers and Product designers to bring the AI system’s outputs into the hands of the end user in a partner facing web portal.
Guarantee AI system stability via continuous monitoring and observability.
Code with software engineering best practices in mind (CI/CD, unit testing, integration testing)
Collaborate with the Data Engineers to Identify and consolidate the department data sources - helping us develop a strong foundation for our Applied Science- and partner data solutions.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF …
Educational background in a quantitative or a computer science field - Masters degree preferred.
Basic understanding of Machine Learning Engineering (service design, batch processing, GPU computing, git, docker, CI/CD, software testing, features stores)
Ideally you have an initial industry experience of 1 year in designing, developing and operating data-intensive ML or Data systems.
Comfortable using Python for the ML/software development lifecycle.
Basic knowledge in one of the following fields: Machine Learning/Operations Research/Statistics (forecasting techniques, mathematical optimization, causal inference, inventory optimization)
