https://www.woven-city.global/WHO ARE WE LOOKING FORWe are looking for an experienced and motivated Lead Data Scientist to drive the future of our data and AI initiatives at Woven City. You will focus on ethical knowledge acquisition and analyzing resident feedback, both passive and active, to gain valuable insights. As the Lead Data Scientist, you will set the strategic and technical direction, creating an operational and research environment to support diverse studies and process both quantitative and qualitative data.This role requires expertise in human behavior and feedback analysis within a complex, data-rich environment, encompassing both digital and physical aspects of Woven City. You will collaborate closely with technical teams, such as data, ML, and backend engineering, to align initiatives with broader organizational goals. We expect strong technical skills paired with strategic vision, a passion for solving complex data challenges, and the ability to foster a collaborative and innovative atmosphere. Strong communication is key, as you will lead technical discussions and mentor other engineers to drive success.You will report to the Department Manager andt this is a hybrid work style role.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and mentor a team of data scientists and ML engineers, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and best practices in coding, documentation, and reproducibility
- Define project scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverables, aligning with business goals to drive impactful outcomes
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and business development, for cohesive and aligned project execution
- Oversee the development, validation, and deployment of ML models using frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn, while staying updated on new technologies to advance team capabilities
- Collaborate with engineering and data teams to design scalable data pipelines, integrate ML models into production using big data technologies, and ensure data quality, security, and compliance
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Over 7 years of experience in data science, specializing in complex, data-intensive applications - particularly in human-centric research settings - with expertise in unstructured data analysis, techniques for extracting quantitative and qualitative insights, data security, and lifecycle management
- Extensive experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, LightGBM, JAX), data processing technologies (e.g., Spark), relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra), and programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, and occasionally Scala or Java
- Proficient in unsupervised (e.g., clustering, PCA), semi-supervised (e.g., self-training, label propagation), and supervised ML and deep learning models (e.g., regression, classification, CNNs, RNNs)
- Skilled in creating effective data visualization strategies and well-structured dashboards using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Python visualization libraries
- Strong leadership, team and project management skills, with excellent communication in English and basic Japanese comprehension
NICE TO HAVES:
- In-depth understanding of the industry and business domain to effectively address business problems with data science solutions
- Experience building data products focusing on human feedback, including usage in both digital and physical environments
- Experience with LLM prompt engineering and the long-chain ecosystem (e.g., PineCone, AutoGPT, PromptLayer, LlamaIndex)
