Nokia Standards is responsible for research and standardization activities to shape standards and industry specifications in line with Nokia strategy & vision. Main goal is creating leading innovations in collaboration with internal and external experts to advance the technology landscape as well as to protect Intellectual Property (SEPs & SIPs). Within the Nokia Standards organization, the Sustainability Research & Standardization team is made up of sustainability researchers and standardization delegates who are working on the near-to-mid-term Environmental Social Governance (ESG) aspects of emerging communication technologies that are being standardized in international standardization organizations, as well as internal and external sustainability research projects.

In this context, we are currently looking to strengthen our team. As a member of a high-performing standardization & research team, you will create and develop concepts, frameworks, and studies for standardization on telecommunications role in artificial intelligence. 

 

You will be Nokia standardization delegate participating in external standardization forum contributing and shaping the standards. You will form Nokia position on proposals in AI governance standardization and/or the work in industry associations together with Nokia experts in the area. You will conduct analyses and provide technical recommendations for Nokia actions in standardization. You will be also writing papers for conferences and publications as part of Nokia thought leadership ambition.

Moreover, you will be covering AI governance related to regulation and policy aspects, focusing on Ethics, Quality and Risk Management of AI technology. This combines the technical side of AI with the social and political impacts of AI deployment. Both being key pillars in the enablement and large-scale adoption of AI technology. As part of the risk management activity, you will collaborate with a cross-function team to identify the minimum compliance requirements for Nokia products, and to enable Business Groups to define which steps are needed for being compliant and for minimizing potential risks. 

You will be collaborating and contributing to research focusing on key enablers of trustworthy AI, such as understandability of AI, algorithm transparency, ML model interpretability, data and model bias and related mitigation techniques, as well as integration of such key enablers into standardization frameworks. 

In addition, you will be responsible for shaping the AI, ML&Data for the next iteration of the Nokia Technology Vision. This involves creating and curating content, through own expertise and collaboration with experts Nokia wide.

  • M.Sc. or PhD in relevant area, e.g.ethical, AI and computer science. 
  • Preferably, good understanding of telecommunication technology
  • Well familiar with AI/ML methodology and technologies 
  • Familiar with explainable AI methods and techniques
  • Familiar with standardization environments cultures and dynamics and/or industry associations would be beneficial
  • Ability to argument and drive your topics in a multi-disciplinary team 
  • Able to suggest/identify new initiative and proactively propose project/activity of the R&S research team by fusing technical knowledge on market research findings
  • Moderate amount of international traveling
  • Excellent communication, presentation, collaboration and technical writing skills
  • Fluency in English
  • Experience of working in worldwide virtual teams
  • Effective internal and external networking abilities
  • Interdisciplinary thinking and holistic perspective
  • For CEN/CENELEC delegate needs to have Europe Citizenship
