We are seeking a Summer 2025 Intern - AI and Astronaut Physiology to join the Humanworks Lab, with a focus on Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence. The selected intern will support the development of AI and machine learning models designed to enhance NASA's understanding of the human body in space. This work will contribute to the optimization of fitness and conditioning systems, as well as overall astronaut well-being.
The lab possesses a substantial repository of data to support the development of AI and machine learning models. During this internship, the focus will be on exploratory data analysis, data provenance, and data curation—including the identification and handling of outliers—to produce clean, well-organized, and reliable datasets. These efforts are essential to facilitate the development of robust models and to support more accurate forecasting and protocol design aimed at sustaining physical and psychological performance in long-duration space missions.

Work Environment
Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
Equipment and Machines
Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
Attendance
Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
