Waymo's Product Data Science team works with Engineering, Product and Operations to help us make the most informed decisions using data. Our team collaborates on projects across the company — from driving quality and operational efficiency to market analysis and rider satisfaction scores — we help to safely and efficiently scale the Waymo Driver. We are data-driven, curious, and to new information.

In this hybrid role, you will report to a Product Data Science Director, Commercial Operations.

You will:

  • Be responsible for optimizing the deployment of the Waymo fleet to best meet consumer demand while keeping operational costs as low as possible.
  • Develop measurement frameworks to evaluate the performance and efficiency of the fleet with a deep understanding of demand, supply, network balance and real world constraints. 
  • Conduct deep dive analysis to identify opportunities for how we improve the overall efficiency of Waymo’s fleet orchestration products.
  • Build performance monitoring and altering systems to ensure we can quickly identify failure modes and take appropriate corrective action.

You have:

  • Degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Statistics, Mathematics, Physics)
  • 8+ years of industry experience solving data science problems (or 5+ years of experience with a PhD in a quantitative field)
  • Expertise using advanced statistical methods in an applied setting; familiarity with optimization methods
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Python/SQL/R data analysis libraries and packages

We prefer:

  • PhD in a quantitative field
  • Experience solving problems related to Logistics, Fleet Operations, Ride Hailing or Autonomous Vehicles
  • Experience in adjacent relevant technical methods like Optimization, Machine Learning, Forecasting

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the role location or, if the role can be performed remote, the specific salary range for your preferred location, during the hiring process. 

Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
