Back in 1898, E. St. Elmo Lewis had a “lightbulb moment” and sketched out the AIDA (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action) model, launching what we now call the conversion funnel. Over a century later, that original idea of guiding strangers toward becoming loyal customers still drives modern marketing and data science, shaping how we measure and optimize every step of the user journey.

We are looking for a Data Science Manager who can build the theory and connect the dots behind how and why people adopt our core products. In this role, you’ll be responsible for deeply understanding our customers, the systems of distribution for Mercury, designing how we are driving towards the overarching business and financial goals. You’ll work closely with product, engineering, and design to drive topline growth as well as overall user experience for Mercury.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 4 senior IC data scientists supporting the Experiences organization.
  • Proactively discover and define opportunities to level up the craft, strategy, and execution of our growth and user experience reporting.
  • Set the direction and define prioritized roadmaps for the team; ensuring we’re focused on work that solves user problems, enables product teams, and maximizes customer value.
  • Work in ambiguity and be able to set and achieve priorities that find the perfect balance between both user and business needs.
  • Translate qualitative and quantitative data and derive insights that inform product work; communicate these with the team.

We’re looking for a motivated data leader who cares deeply about craft and feels energized by opportunities to work across product teams to deliver a cohesive experience for our users. A successful candidate will likely have:

  • 5+ years of analytics experience, with 2+ years managing analytics teams.
  • Experience in Growth or Dashboard teams.
  • Strong data analysis and data story telling skills.
  • Experience with experimental design and analysis on user facing surfaces.
