Who We Are

Nuro exists to better everyday life through robotics. Founded in 2016, Nuro has spent eight years developing autonomous driving (AD) technology and commercializing AD applications. The Nuro Driver™ is our world-class autonomous driving system that combines AD hardware with our generalized AI-first self-driving software.

Built to learn and improve through data, the Nuro Driver™ is one of the few driverless autonomous technologies on public roads today. Nuro has raised over $2B in capital from Fidelity, Bailie Gifford, T. Rowe Price, Google, and other leading investors. We’ve partnered with some of the world’s most respected brands including Uber, FedEx, Domino’s, Walmart, Kroger, and 7-Eleven.

About the Role

We’re looking for a generalist software engineer that can support the development, bring-up, and integration of Autonomous Vehicle sensors in support of launching our next generation sensor platform.  In this role, the candidate needs to be able to understand the data a sensor provides, correlate that to the internal sensor hardware and software performance, and then develop data pipelines to be able to work with or hand off the sensor data. The ideal candidate has a distinct knowledge of optical sensors operation and function.

About the Work

  • Develop and modify sensor driver software to provide data to the Autonomy stack
  • Own sensor data analysis pipelines to provide early signal of out of spec performance
  • Coordinate with partner teams to support the integration and debug of our next gen sensing platform
  • Work closely with teammates to support bench and lab level testing of new sensing technologies
  • Troubleshoot and root cause sensor performance issues on bench and on car
  • Coordinate with vendors to root cause sensor hardware and software issues

About You

  • 3+ years of experience working on driver-level software, preferably related to sensing technologies
  • Ability to read and write Python code
  • Ability to read and write C++ code
  • Working knowledge of Lidar, Camera, or Image Processing operational principles
  • Strong technical communication skills
  • B.S./M.S Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or other relevant technical area

Bonus Points

  • Experience in the Autonomous Vehicle or robotics space
  • Experience with vendor point cloud visualization tools
