Position Overview

The Systems Engineer is responsible for managing the selection, procurement, integration, deployment, and operationalization of hardware and server systems across both field and data center environments. In addition to hardware responsibilities, the role includes establishing virtual environments, maintaining system reliability, and supporting DevOps practices for software deployment and infrastructure automation. Reporting to the Senior Delivery Manager, this role is essential for ensuring scalability, high availability, and operational efficiency of Presight’s technology platforms.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Hardware and Infrastructure

  • Hardware Selection and Procurement: Identify and procure optimal hardware solutions (servers, storage, networking) that meet project needs in terms of performance, cost, and scalability.
  • Integration and Compatibility: Ensure seamless integration of hardware systems with software stacks, hypervisors, and cloud/on-prem environments.
  • Field Deployment: Plan and manage deployment of hardware systems in field environments, ensuring adherence to safety, documentation, and project timelines.
  • Change Management: Manage hardware infrastructure changes, especially at the edge and civil deployment levels, including proper documentation and risk management.

  Software, Virtualization & DevOps

  • Virtual Environment Setup: Configure and maintain virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere/ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, or Proxmox VE, including storage and networking.
  • DevOps and Automation: Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitLab CI, Jenkins, Ansible, or Terraform to automate infrastructure provisioning and software deployments.
  • Containerization: Support deployment of containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring proper orchestration and system resource allocation.
  • Monitoring and Logging: Set up and manage monitoring tools like Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack to track hardware/software performance and detect anomalies.

  Operations and Support

  • Issue Resolution: Diagnose and resolve both hardware and software infrastructure issues, collaborating with vendors and internal teams.
  • System Optimization: Implement evaluation protocols and performance tuning practices to ensure optimal operation of virtualized and bare-metal systems.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of system configurations, integration guides, incident logs, and change histories.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise with software development teams, system integrators, clients, and external partners to align technical implementations with project goals.

Qualifications

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field; advanced certifications (e.g., VMware VCP, AWS/GCP, Red Hat, DevOps) are a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in system engineering with focus on both hardware deployment and virtualized infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), infrastructure automation (e.g., Ansible, Terraform), and Linux server administration.
• Strong understanding of hardware-software integration, cloud/on-prem architecture, and system scalability best practices.
• Experience managing large-scale deployments, troubleshooting technical issues, and coordinating with vendors.
• Familiarity with data center operations, edge computing, and cybersecurity fundamentals.
• Excellent organizational, documentation, and project management skills.
• Proficiency in Kazakh, Russian, and English is required.
