Who we’re looking for:
MHA is seeking a visionary and results-oriented leader to join our Strategic Analytics team as the Senior Director, Data Science and Strategic Insights. Reporting directly to the VP of Strategic Analytics, this role will be pivotal in fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making and delivering value for our Pharmaceutical Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) business.

The successful candidate will bridge the gap between data and business value by developing and delivering advanced analytics & insights that drive actionable business outcomes.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead and mentor the Pharma Analytics team, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration to deliver actionable insights that drive business growth and enhance operational efficiency.
- Engage hands-on in key analytics projects to ensure high-quality outcomes.
- Mentor team members in translating complex analytics into compelling data stories that effectively communicate insights and drive strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including Sales and Trade leadership, to align analytics initiatives with strategic objectives and deliver insights that address key business challenges and capitalize on opportunities.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on healthcare data sources (both 1st-party and 3rd-party), advanced analytics methodologies, and machine learning techniques, guiding the team in leveraging these to maximize impact.
- Deliver comprehensive and quantifiable analyses of the Pharma GPO market landscape, including market share dynamics and go-to-market strategies across membership, pharmaceutical manufacturers, products, and wholesaler relationships.
- Conduct ongoing competitive analysis through primary and secondary research to inform strategic planning and tactical execution within the organization.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, delivering data-driven recommendations to optimize Pharma GPO products and membership strategies at both macro and micro levels.
Competencies:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, or a closely related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in developing and applying data science and analytics to solve specific healthcare business challenges.
- 5+ years of demonstrated leadership experience, including resource planning, team management, and strong coaching capabilities to mentor and develop staff.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in developing machine learning and deep learning models that drive data-informed business decisions.
- Proven hands-on experience with conventional machine learning techniques (e.g., support vector machines, random forests, gradient boosting).
- Hands-on experience with data imputation techniques using both conventional analytics and machine learning.
- Familiarity with deep learning methodologies (e.g., transfer learning, dropout).
- Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics and/or Microsoft Fabric is highly desirable.
- In-depth expertise in the flow of goods and services within the pharmaceutical supply chain, from manufacturers to patients and across all intermediaries.
- Extensive hands-on experience with 1st-party and 3rd-party healthcare datasets pertaining to market access, distribution, and utilization (e.g., drug distribution, dispensing, claims data, formularies).
- Comprehensive understanding of the GPO dual-sided healthcare network business model, encompassing both supply and demand perspectives.
