A bit about the role:
We are seeking a proactive, strategic DevOps Engineer to join us as a founding member of our team. This role will focus on:
Strategic Planning and Design: You are responsible for designing scalable, cost-effective, and efficient solutions while taking care of compliance and best practices.
Collaboration: working closely with stakeholders and product teams to gather technical and non-technical requirements and translate them into well-architected solutions.
Implementation: Implement solutions using AWS offerings such as EC2, S3, Lambda, etc. Configure and deploy solutions using automated solutions such as AWS, Circle, and Terraform.
Security and Compliance: Ensure that the architecture and solutions are compliant with AWS best practices and mitigate any security vulnerabilities that might occur.
Performance Optimization: Focus on optimizing performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Provide technical support on AWS-related issues, monitor solutions, and implement appropriate strategies to eliminate performance bottlenecks.
Cloud Governance : Utilize tools such as IAM, resource tagging, cost management, etc. to enforce AWS governance policies and implement monitoring and alerting solutions to address issues proactively
Vendor Management : Manage relationships with third-party vendors and service providers, including evaluating proposals and negotiating contracts. Ensure vendor compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) and quality standards.
DR and BCP : Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for IT infrastructure and business critical IT applications. Test and validate disaster recovery procedures to minimize downtime and data loss in the event of system failures or disasters.
A bit about the work:
Leading the practice of container-based microservices and serverless applications using ECS, EC2, and other cloud based environments.
Develop code pipelines to automate application, platform, and infrastructure deployment using CI/CD solutions that leverage various technologies, such as Circle CI.
Monitor and develop alerting infrastructures to help maintain a stable and performant system, detect anomalies introduced into the product, and create systems to quickly recover from issues found in production.
Collaborate with stakeholders to assess cloud requirements and design scalable, reliable, and secure cloud solutions.
Evaluate and recommend cloud technologies, platforms, and tools to optimize performance, cost-efficiency, and resource utilization.
Conducted regular security audits and implemented best practices to ensure the integrity and security of the infrastructure.
Work as a project leader, as needed, for projects of moderate complexity.
Provide technical leadership and promote collaboration and knowledge exchange amongst the team.
A bit about you:
BS or higher degree in computer science (or equivalent experience)
7+ years of relevant experience
Strong experience setting up, maintaining, and automating continuous integration systems
Fluency in SCM (e.g. Github, Gitlab, Git) and build systems (e.g. Circle CI and Docker)
Experience with using automation tools and pipelines like Circle CI and Terraform
Experience with using, managing, and customizing New Relic and Sumo Logic for creating dashboards, alerts, and metrics displays
Expertise with some or all of the following technologies: Redis, Elasticsearch, AWS Aurora, Redshift, MongoDB, EC2, and ECS
Adept programming skills in scripting (Python, Perl, Shell scripting, like bash, tcsh, sh)
Pragmatic approach to solving problems and collaboration
Location:
We have offices located in Sunnyvale, CA, San Francisco, CA and Brooklyn, NY. While we have a strong focus on individuals near our office hubs, we offer fully remote and hybrid employment opportunities.
Pay Equity:
In compliance with Pay Transparency Laws, the base salary range for this role is between $150,000-$200,000 for those located in the San Francisco Bay Area, New York City, and Seattle, WA. When determining compensation, a number of factors will be considered, including skills, experience, job scope, location, and competitive compensation market data.
