RESPONSIBILITIES

Here at our Team "Production AI - Plant & Site Analytics" the focus is set on the acquisition of new projects, the systematic requirements engineering for the adaptation or new functionalities in our solutions as well as the implementation of use cases with our internal business partner.

• As a Data Scientist for the Production AI – Plant & Site Analytics team within the Global Digital Services organization, you will work at the intersection of chemical process modeling, production and data science.
• You will be primarily responsible for project acquisition and solution development supporting the optimization of BASF's production network.
• With the goal to continuously improve production plants by leveraging digitalization, you will support the realization of the Production AI scope globally.
• You will ensure all solutions deployed are highly reliable and adhere to all applicable internal requirements and external/government requirements.
• With the focus on innovation and sustainability, you will use your expertise as well as familiarity in chemical process engineering and advanced data science techniques in the field of data analytics to ensure developed as well as deployed solutions are both quality and cost competitive.
• You will develop solutions that help to improve decision support with respect to transparency, reliability, quality, throughput, safety and sustainability for our internal business partners operating production plants.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Master or PhD in engineering, computer science, mathematics, statistics, natural sciences, or information technology with a focus on data driven applications
• solid technical and professional working experience in the following areas:
  • Project management (continuously exchanging with customers, budget, work organization)
  • Logic development (solving the business problem, setting-up and training models, data analysis)
  • Data engineering (identifying data sources, cleaning, setting up automated transformation pipelines)
  • Backend development with Python (creating the backend logic, tying together different databases)
  • Frontend development with React.js / Plotly-Dash (creating easy to use UIs)
  • Deployment (Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure)
  • Quality assurance (unit tests, exception handling, ensuring smooth operation)
• excellent communication and presentation skills in English and German
