Position Summary
A Brief Overview
The CVS Health Consumer Analytics team does a ton of personalized outreach and experimentation at an impressive scale: >100M messages per year. These messages educate members on truly meaningful things like staying adherent to medications, avoiding admissions to hospitals, and improving overall health – and save them money in the process. We do this through a combination of rules and machine learning models that identify who to target and an experimentation platform that allows complex journeys & test designs through a variety of channels & vendors. We do this hand-in-hand with our data engineering and marketing partners.
This role is part of Foundry – a team tasked with automating the platform as much as possible and making it more insightful, faster and stable. Products under Foundry include systems for automated targeting, optimizing campaigns to maximize lift and automating campaign measurement.
The Senior Data Scientist role will serve as a key technical contributor to help build our technical portfolio of internal products and have a strong influence on the business value and success of the team.
What you will do
Develop an in depth understanding of how “Next Best Action” campaigns and interventions work and are measured at CVS Health
Work with a multi-disciplinary team of data scientists, engineers and marketing teams to collaboratively develop innovative data science and ML-based products
Interface with business partners to identify opportunities and refine existing work
Rapidly iterate through solutions to figure out what works best
The ideal candidate

Demonstrates strong ownership and is driven by playing many roles both business-related (strategy, presenting to stakeholders, project management, etc.) and technical
Has experience both creating campaigns/interventions and working through, or better yet, building platforms to deliver them
Is okay with ambiguity and can creatively build solutions that solve problems, even if those problems are not expressed in formal business requirement documents
Has hands-on experience as a data scientist and ML practitioner
Loves innovating and working on small teams that get stuff done and have a lot of autonomy
Required Qualifications
3+ years experience as data scientist applying ML to real-world problems with demonstrated business impact
Strong technical problem solving and decision-making skills
Strong track record collaboration and teamwork
Strong entrepreneurial drive toward innovation
Strong programming skills in Python and SQL
Strong familiarity with common DS and ML libraries and frameworks
Hands-on experience with cloud computing (Google Cloud, AWS, etc.)
Strong theoretical and hands-on experience with statistics and machine learning
Strong understanding of version control (i.e. git)
Experience with experiment design (AB testing, randomized-controlled trials, factorial design, etc)
Preferred Qualifications
Full-stack experience – creating and deploying apps, databases, APIs, CI/CD pipelines
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Operation Research, Statistics, Health Policy, or related field
Preferred: Master’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Operation Research, Statistics, Health Policy, or related field
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$111,240.00 - $222,480.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
