About you 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced senior data scientist to join our Product Analytics team to drive the next generation of improvements to our content discovery systems.

About this role 

Udemy is at the forefront of education technology, as a Senior Data Scientist in the Product Analytics group you will leverage your domain expertise and Udemy’s data to build new user search experiences and personalize content recommendations within our marketplace platform. You will collaborate closely with our search and recommendations product teams, exhibit a strong sense of co-ownership for the product surfaces, and continuously evaluate and offer strategic refinements to optimize relevance, engagement, and positive outcomes - ensuring users discover the most valuable content for their learning journey. 

What you'll be doing

  • Lead collaboration with a team of Data Scientists who developed our current search and recommendation models, acting as a proactive owner of these products' success. 
  • Develop deep expertise with our data tools and infrastructure, anticipating stakeholder needs and ensuring key product success. 
  • Navigate user product flows and architect robust data pipelines from raw data sources as necessary. 
  • Evaluate new features to refine and expand the capabilities of our recommendation algorithms while guiding stakeholders with strategic advice and causally robust recommendations. 

What you’ll have

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  •  5+ years of experience with Python programming, demonstrating expertise with libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn, numpy, etc. 
  • 5+ years of experience with SQL, showcasing the ability to construct intricate queries for extracting and transforming data from our datalake. 
  • Extensive experience in machine learning, with a strong emphasis on recommendation systems and predictive modeling. 
  • Proficiency with AWS Sagemaker and other advanced cloud-based tools for developing and deploying machine learning models. 
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to foresee and address stakeholder needs effectively. A strong background in computer science, data science, or a related field, with demonstrated leadership in applied machine learning projects.
