Act as Lead of the Data Science Community and be the connector to the Business IT departments across PostNL. You will take a leadership role in defining the Way of Working, develop a new Data Science Strategy and have a Center of Excellence role in the organization.

This is your role 
You will take the lead in developing innovative solutions, collaborating with experts, and advancing technology. We are looking for someone with effective communication skills, who likes to work together and has a passion for learning and sharing knowledge. Moreover, you will be part of and play a leading role in the PostNL data chapter & community in which we share “best practices” and innovations in our company. You will take the lead in developing the Data Science strategy.
New Technology Explorations
Research, develop and decide on new (data science) technologies and platforms. Enhancing technologies from Tech Radar.
PoC development
Building PoCs with new technologies (alongside business / BITs)
Build strategy for scaling
Develop strategy for scaling and implementation. Pinpoint gaps and challenges (e.g. missing DevOps capacity)
Center of Excellence role
Build supportive generalized solutions. E.g. Gurobi usage optimization, map data solution (OpenStreetMap)
Technology Decisions
Support in deciding on new technologies

Your Colleagues 
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be working in the Data Science Innovation Department, which focusses on Data Science and Tech innovations. These are cutting-edge solutions on the AWS Platform, e.g. generative AI, Data Science Portal or Computer Vision. You will be part of a team with data scientists and engineers that aim to help PostNL make great strides in data science and generative AI.

This is what you bring

• At least 5 years of relevant work experience as a Data Scientist.
• University education and thinking level with a background in a highly quantitative field.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of switching between different levels.
• You can quickly understand complex business problems, outline a project approach, and clearly convey solutions.
• The ability to identify and create Data Science initiatives.
• Experience with the development and deployment of planning and optimization challenges.
• Persuasive, independent thinker with advisory skills. Proactive and driven work attitude.
• Experience with Python, AWS SageMaker, SQL. Knowledge and experience with PySpark and Gurobi is a plus.

• A salary of € 4.852,- to a maximum of € 7.054,- gross per month (scale 12) for 37 hours
• 8% vacation pay and 25 vacation days if you work full-time
