Position Summary
This position sits within the Office of Health Information and Data Science (OHIDS) as part of the marketing and communications team, overseeing a portfolio that includes the Institute for Informatics, Biostatistics and Data Science (I2DB) and the Office of the Chief Research Information Officer, and works in close partnership with
Medical Marketing and Communications, the Office of Medical Education, and the Division of Biology and Biomedical Sciences. The incumbent will work closely with senior leadership and report to the Director of Marketing and Communications.
This position is able to adapt quickly to the ongoing growth of the OHIDS portfolio and remains up-to-date regarding projects, education initiatives, and services to support the team strategically. The role requires an individual with organizational and analytical skills alongside strong business judgment and communication skills needed to interact with a variety of people and job functions. This position maintains a high level of professionalism, maturity, and urgency. In addition, the candidate understands and embodies a high degree of emotional intelligence and applied curiosity as it relates to the unit’s mission and vision.

Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Strategy and Execution
- Develops, recommends and executes marketing strategies in support of OHIDS goals and objectives (i.e. student recruitment, event attendance, awareness around key initiatives and research), including web, social media, email marketing, presentations and convening events, video, and podcasting, with a focus on identifying relevant new media/mediums and outreach strategies to reach target audiences.
- Responsibilities include concept/idea generation, writing, graphic design, website, video and podcast production, photography and advertising.
- Deliverables must align with and support unit, school and university brand.
Social/New Media
- Advances and coordinates social media presences and initiatives.
- Platforms currently include LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Bluesky, and Vimeo/YouTube, supported by a robust website and news hub.
- Develops and manages, or manages vendors, creating and monitoring/revising digital and physical marketing (pay-per-click and advertising) campaigns.
Media Production
- Creates, edits and posts photo, video and podcast content to website and social media, and for live/virtual events.
Awareness/Networking
- Participates in interdepartmental and campus-wide initiatives, including the Medical Marketing and Communications Council, keeps informed about relevant news and industry trends, attends meetings, coordinates with teams, SMEs and peer positions, developing communications as needed.
Administrative
- Manages vendors and expenses related to marketing activities and manage to budget.
- Coordinates OHIDS marcomm team’s file management and project management (currently utilizing WashU’s Monday.com license).

- This position is a hybrid position with two to three days in the office per week.
- This position will periodically require in-person time on the Danforth Campus.
- May have the opportunity to travel to conferences, site visits, and other trainings, as requested by leadership.

Salary Range
$53,100.00 - $90,600.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
