About the role:

As a Senior Android Engineer at Cantina, you'll be instrumental in designing and building features that redefine how users experience AI-driven social interactions.  You’ll architect and implement significant features critical to the app’s success, driving the development of seamless and visually engaging interfaces. Working closely with product managers, designers, and engineers, you’ll ensure our app remains cutting-edge and user-centric.

A bit about the work:

• Develop and deliver end-to-end features, transforming Figma designs into polished, production-ready experiences using Jetpack Compose and Kotlin.

• Architect scalable and modular solutions, emphasizing clean design and separation of concerns with MVVM, viewmodels, and repository patterns.

• Work on the frontend UI and data layer, ensuring seamless consumption and delivery of data using technologies like RoomDB, SQLite, Kotlin Flow, Retrofit, and Ktor.

• Explore and prototype next-generation technologies such as Kotlin Multiplatform and Compose Multiplatform for cross-platform innovation.

• Collaborate with backend services through GRPC and other APIs to build efficient, reliable integrations.

• Experiment with emerging tools, techniques, and technologies to keep Cantina at the forefront of Android development.

A bit about you: 

• 8+ years of professional Android development experience

• Expertise in Kotlin; strong proficiency in Java for legacy components

• Deep experience with Jetpack Compose, MVVM architecture, RoomDB, and Kotlin Flow

• Skilled in clean architecture and modular system design

• Collaborative; strong communication with designers, product, and engineers

• Autonomous; asks the right questions without requiring hand-holding

• Bonus: Experience with NDK, integrating C++ libraries, and AI-driven features

• Passionate about AI, creativity, and user experience innovation

Location:

We have offices located in Sunnyvale, CA, San Francisco, CA and Brooklyn, NY. While we have a strong focus on individuals near our office hubs, we offer fully remote and hybrid employment opportunities.

Pay Equity: 

In compliance with Pay Transparency Laws, the base salary range for this role is between $175,000-$250,000 for those located in the San Francisco Bay Area, New York City and Seattle, WA. When determining compensation, a number of factors will be considered, including skills, experience, job scope, location, and competitive compensation market data.
