Chef Robotics is on a mission to accelerate the advent of intelligent machines in the physical world. As the rise of LLMs like ChatGPT has shown, AI has the potential to drive immense change. However, we believe AI’s biggest impact will be in the physical world, given industries like manufacturing, food, and transportation represent 90% of global GDP. We're starting with food, with a goal to put an intelligent robot in every commercial kitchen in the world. We have signed multiple multi-year contracts with various large food companies and we are growing fast. We're backed by investors like Kleiner Perkins, Construct, Bloomberg BETA and Promus Ventures. We have a great team, where you will be surrounded by talented engineers and tech leaders from companies like Cruise, Zoox, Google, Verb Surgical, Tesla, Nuro, Vicarious, Amazon Robotics, Strateos, Built Robotics, Facebook, Plenty, Yelp, and Microsoft.
About The Role
We are hiring a Robot Operations Specialist who thrives on precision and is energized by finding that needle in the haystack. If you’re detail-oriented, motivated to tackle tasks with focus, and take pride in spotting critical details that others overlook, this role is perfect for you.
As a self-starter, you’ll excel at managing your time, identifying what needs to get done, and driving tasks to completion. You’ll be the linchpin connecting customers, engineers, and technicians with your stellar communication skills.
Important Note: This is not a software development or robotics engineering position. Instead, it’s an opportunity to build your career within our dynamic Operations team, with exciting growth paths ahead in this area.

In this role, you will:

  • Document and contextualize field-reported robot issues to support thorough investigation and resolution efforts.
  • Provide clear and timely communication of known robot issues, along with troubleshooting best practices, to in-field teams, including Customer Support and Applications Engineering.
  • Conduct first-level remote troubleshooting for issues reported directly by customers, ensuring prompt support and issue mitigation.
  • Support Customer Support and Applications Engineering teams by performing first-level remote troubleshooting to assist in resolving reported issues effectively.

You bring:

  • 2+ years of experience in a similar technical or operational role.
  • Experience troubleshooting physical systems, such as mechanical, electrical, or IT infrastructure.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to meticulously follow technical instructions and procedures.
  • Excellent ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Flexible availability to support customer needs, including weekends, evenings, and on-call shifts as required.

Preferred Technical Skills

  • Experience at a robotics company
  • Familiarity with robotics visualization programs (RViz, Foxglove)
  • Experience developing Decision Trees and/or Standard Operating Procedures
  • Exposure to ROS (Robot Operating System)
  • Exposure to software development concepts, and programming languages (C++ and Python)
  • Experience with basic hardware design, fabrication techniques, and mechanics of materials
Equal Opportunity Employer
We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, citizen status, uniform service member and veteran status, marital status, age, pregnancy status, protected medical condition, genetic information, disability, or any other protected status.
Multiple studies have found that a higher percentage of women and BIPOC candidates won't apply if they don't meet every listed qualification. Chef values candidates of all backgrounds. If you find yourself excited by our mission but you don't check every box in the description, we encourage you to apply anyway!
