About the team:

The Emerging Storage Lab is a research group based at Huawei Canada's Toronto and Vancouver Research Centre that is focused on next-generation storage technologies and innovations. Our team comprises graduate computer engineers and computer scientists with diverse industry experience, ranging from 0 to over 20 years. This lab investigates various storage-related topics, including storage devices, persistent memory, file systems, storage networks, and AI storage, aiming to advance the field and drive storage technological progress in the new AI era.


About the job:

  • Conduct advanced research on the intersection of AI and data storage, developing state-of-the-art storage technologies to enhance AI training and inference.

  • Explore and implement emerging storage technologies designed to accelerate AI workloads and improve the efficiency of AI infrastructure.

  • Design the architecture of storage components and subsystems to meet the unique demands of AI-driven applications and workloads.

  • Develop software solutions that address key technical challenges in storage systems, including functionality and performance testing.

  • Work closely with international teams, leveraging global expertise to advance research and enhance the quality of storage solutions.

  • Stay updated with the latest research and trends by studying state-of-the-art work and applying innovative ideas to solve complex problems.

Requirements

About the ideal candidate:

  • PhD or Master in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related storage field.

  • Knowledge and experience in AI/ML/LLM, storage/file systems, or operating system structures.

  • Programming proficiency in C, C++, and Python.

  • Strong research capability and ability to learn new technologies/products quickly.
