We are currently looking for a Research Data Science Intern to join our team in Santa Clara, CA.

A Day in the Life:   

  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to understand customer behaviors and trends, operating conditions of EV batteries and their state-of-health. Communicate insights to diverse stakeholders, and leverage relevant findings to help drive our team’s efforts.
  • Collaborate with research scientists, engineers, managers, and stakeholders to develop data-driven, planning, segmentation, optimization, and predictive models for battery life management such as optimization of second use relevant exploratory and customer-facing applications.
  • Working fast with Python and SQL – interns will be expected to contribute to data processing, feature engineering, model development and validation. Real-world data can be noisy, poorly structured, and highly limited; comfort with the tools of the trade will go a long way and maximize your impact.
  • Communicate with business stakeholders to apply your ideas to battery circular economy.

Who We’re Looking for: 

  • Must be currently enrolled in a PhD program in computer science, statistics, engineering, chemistry, operations research, or related technical field. Exceptional candidates in research-focused MS programs will be considered.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Fluency in Python, including proficiency with data structures & advanced algorithms
  • Hands-on experience with data science packages including pandas and scikit-learn, experience with machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, JAX, and/or PyTorch, and working ability with optimization frameworks like cvxpy
  • Advanced artifacts in the form of sound and creative scientific papers (e.g. SIGKDD, ICLR, ICML, ICRA, ICCPS, etc.), open-source code contributions, and/or patents
  • Attention to detail, flexibility, creativity, and excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A strong passion for sustainability, empirical research, and for answering hard questions with data
  • Ability to perform work onsite at the Nissan Advanced Technology Center Silicon Valley in Santa Clara, CA.

$15.00 - $35.00
