Job Overview
The University of Cincinnati’s College of Engineering and Applied Science seeks a full-time Research Associate for the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics. The role involves managing research projects and contributing to studies in Explainable AI and Optimal Control.
Essential Functions
- Coordinate laboratory projects and research studies in Explainable AI and Optimal Control.
- Manage the full project lifecycle of grant-funded research, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met.
- Mentor and manage graduate research students.
- Oversee laboratory operations and research equipment.
- Lead and support grant proposal writing and submission.
- Contribute independently to projects based on expertise and experience.
- Utilize research knowledge to solve complex problems and independently manage full project cycles.
- Collaborate effectively as part of a research team.
- Analyze research data, design data search procedures, and establish research standards and controls.
- Deliver significant outcomes for assigned projects and studies as a seasoned researcher.
Required Education
Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
Required Experience
- In-depth knowledge of specialized field, process or discipline.
- May require experience with specialized software programs.
Additional Qualifications Considered
- At least two years of experience in academic and experimental research.
- Minimum of two years in leadership and management roles.
- Strong knowledge of Fuzzy Logic, Explainable AI principles, Machine Learning, Reinforcement Learning, and Optimal Control.
- Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, and Isaac Sim.
