As a Machine Learning Platform Engineer, you'll take end-to-end ownership of your product in a modern DevOps culture. You'll be responsible for architecture, design, development, testing and operations and deliver incrementally in iterative cycles. You will have an Agile mindset and keen interest in software engineering across a range of technologies.
You will work in a multi-disciplinary team alongside our data scientists to build ML powered solutions for our clients as well as implement MLOps to streamline the model experimentation and ML tooling and workflows for our Data Scientists.
This is a hands-on role, designing and working independently to build out machine learning, generative AI and MLOps platform capabilities and features in line with the roadmap being driven by the transformation program, in line with enterprise technology and security standards. In addition to functional outcomes, this role is responsible for ensuring that the delivered platform is aligned with performance and cost KPIs.
As part of this role, the Machine Learning Platform Engineer will liaise with architects and other Transformation pillars and/or cross functional squads, acting as a platform SME, providing solutioning guidance on how the relevant platform components/tools can be used to meet business outcomes.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:
5+ years experience as a software engineer in an agile devops environment using an object-oriented development language (Java, Python)
Experience across the full SDLC including design, build, test and supporting mission-critical production platforms
Able to implement MLOps best practices including CI/CD pipelines
Experience or a quick ability to learn generative AI, agentic AI and emerging technologies
Demonstrated proficiency using cloud technologies and integrating with ML services including GCP Vertex AI, DataRobot or AWS SageMaker in large and complex organisations and experience with SQL and Python environments.
Data engineering experience will be highly regarded
Previous experience and familiarity with cloud technologies and architectural practices to enhance tooling across the ML model development lifecycle
Good collaboration and communication skills, a self-starter that is able to work in a team to deliver solutions.
Lead the design and development of scalable, robust, secure and performant technology solutions in accordance with business requirements and the platform transformation roadmap, enterprise standards and technology strategy for data applications and/or products
Document relevant artefacts such as architecture, application design and operations handover documentation
Effectively communicate ideas, designs and challenges to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Participate in agile ceremonies, where appropriate

A solid software development background with demonstrable technical leadership
Track record of developing simple solutions to complex problems using modern cloud technology solutions
Solid knowledge and experience of development best practices
Understanding of a broad range of solution architecture principles, designs and patterns
Solid understanding of Agile principles and DevOps practices
Experience with working in complex product ecosystems across Azure and/or GCP
Experience in delivering scalable solutions
Extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including services like BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Functions.
Knowledge of infrastructure and networking concepts and infrastructure as code
Knowledge of application operations processes
Knowledge of streaming systems and their design patterns
Knowledge or experience managing data platforms, visualisation tools, data management tools and/or ML platforms
Solid understanding of unit / integration / API tests, test automation and TDD
Good knowledge of SQL, good understanding of non-relational datastores
Experience setting up build pipelines
Experience in setting up Infrastructure as code
Understanding of secure coding practices
Ability to make objective technical decisions where there is no clear correct answer
Ability to deal with ambiguity & changing priorities
Enthusiastic and positive contributor with a self-directed and self-motivated attitude
Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with a cross functional team
Promote and uphold the Endeavour values and ways of working in day to day tasks.
Ability to manage multiple, concurrent tasks
Contribute to continuous improvement within and across the technology team
Able to work in a fast-paced environment
