A GSK apprenticeship gives you the chance to earn while you learn. The Masters of Data Science apprenticeship lasts two years and is a practical, hands-on apprenticeship where you will have the opportunity to be involved in different aspects and processes required to bring medicinal product to market from the Research and Development perspective.

You will join the Bioimaging Analytics team responsible for applying advanced AI/Machine Learning methodologies to support drug discovery and development. This includes utilising computer vision/language models, object detection and tracking, feature extraction, quantification, and visualization in preclinical stages.

We are looking for motivated individuals with a willingness and enthusiasm to learn, who are excited to develop practical and problems solving skills. No prior experience is required as you will be given full training.

What will you do?

  • Construct, develop and maintain complex data visualization tools, deliver data analysis that enables decision making and drives improvements
  • Learn and apply latest mathematical methods in Data Science applicable to the Clinical Supply Chain
  • You will support to improve drug R&D efficiency through implementation of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning methods
  • Demonstrate project leadership during management and delivery of multiple projects
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers, help guide the data pipeline and data transformation process, and learn about building data science infrastructure
  • Develop and deliver support and guidance materials for Scientific business partners to ensure data governance, robust analysis and data product lifecycle management
  • Gain in-depth and cross-sectional insights into the R&D function
  • Gain hands on experience using state of the art platforms and capabilities such as Power BI, Azure (Databricks & Azure Dev Ops)

What are we looking for?

  • A strong knowledge of Python is required. Alternatively, proficiency in R or MATLAB is acceptable: Demonstrate proficiency in data manipulation and analysis using pandas and numpy, an understanding of fundamental programming concepts (such as loops and conditionals), and be skilled in debugging, testing (e.g. using unittest) and data visualization tools (such as matplotlib and seaborn).
