R&D AI Engineer - Computer Vision & Surgical Robotics (Cambridge, MA)

Your role:
Join a collaborative, startup-like medical robotics R&D team, tasked with inventing and launching next-generation medical solutions for Philips' Image Guided Therapies business.
Develop algorithms and software in an FDA-regulated environment.
Design classic and ML-based solutions to extract digital insights from medical imaging and robotic data.
Create and document requirements, design formal test protocols, and support verification & validation of new features.
Partner closely with various functions, including design, clinical science, regulatory, product management, and business-marketing to build comprehensive solutions.’ Stay informed about the latest advancements in MedTech and AI, and actively contribute to the creation of intellectual property.
Be part of a team in state-of-the-art R&D labs located at the Philips Innovation Campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
You're the right fit if:
You possess a strong background in machine learning and computer vision with demonstrated expertise in both classic and deep learning-based computer vision and medical image analysis. Knowledge of robotics and sensor fusion is advantageous as is experience with sequence data and language models.
You have a Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience or a PhD in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
You are familiar with medical imaging technologies. Knowledge in image-guided therapy or surgery is highly recommended. Experience with medical devices and product development in a regulated industry is also preferred.
You have exceptional software skills. Proficiency in Python is required. Knowledge of C++ is highly preferred.

You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and are self-motivated with good organizational and time management skills as well as a strong desire to learn and adapt to new technologies and challenges.
How we work together:
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.

Philips Transparency Details:
The pay range for this position in MA is $126,000 to $201,000
The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
In addition, other compensation, such as an annual incentive bonus, sales commission or long-term incentives may be offered. At Philips, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each case.
