Meet the team:

We are a new team in R&D building new connected experiences for users across devices and services.  As part of this team, you’ll be able to shape and implement new data-based products that will empower millions of customers to control their health.  

Where you come in:

Dexcom’s R&D team is looking for a principal software engineer with experience building, deploying and operationalizing AI models both for advanced R&D and for production environments.  The role will envision, architect and implement platform services to easily deploy, manage and operate models at scale, and interface with mobile apps, web dashboards and other backend services.  You will serve as a technical lead, providing technical leadership to junior developers, and work together with ml engineers working on a variety of AI techniques.  You will be working with the latest cloud computing platforms to create, deploy, and scale, positioning Dexcom as an industry leader in health AI applications.   

  • Develop a technical roadmap for developing a robust and scalable model platform to meet the current and future needs of the team,

  • Collaborate with other engineering teams, product managers, and stakeholders to define and prioritize the model platform roadmap.

  • Lead a team of software engineers to build and deploy new services in support of model execution at scale.

  • Collaborate with cloud providers to ensure infrastructure is meeting the needs of the team.

  • Ensure that software development processes are followed and that product is delivered on time and within budget.

  • Ensure that software is designed and developed with scalability, maintainability, Keep up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in machine learning and cloud-native software development and make recommendations on how to incorporate them into the team's development processes.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.

What makes you successful:

  • Comfort and experience leading the technical development of new products and services.

  • Deep experience developing cloud-native full-stack applications using cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  • Strong systems knowledge, end to end including cloud infrastructure, platform services, data repositories, and mobile applications.

  • Experience with  containerized application development and Docker, Kubernetes, or Openshift container platform ecosystems to deploy them.

  • Hands-on experience with continuous delivery and trunk-based development.

  • Experience with both a NoSQL (Cassandra, MongoDB, DynamoDB) and an RDBMS (MySQL, Postgres, Oracle).

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively.

Education and Experience:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 15+ years related experience or a Master’s degree and 10+ years equivalent industry experience or a PhD and 7+ years of experience.

Travel Required:

  • 0-5%

Remote Workplace: Your location will be a home office; you are not required to live within commuting distance of your assigned Dexcom site (typically 75 miles/120km). If you reside within commuting distance of a Dexcom site (typically 75 miles/120km) a hybrid working environment may be available. Ask about our Flex workplace option.
