A Day in the Life

If so, you will be a great addition to Medtronic Diabetes Data and Analytics team. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Scientist to join our team. As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for analyzing complex datasets, developing statistical models, and providing actionable insights to drive business decisions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for data-driven solutions, contribute to the development of innovative data products and develop advanced analytical models and actionable insights that fuel our growth and optimize our operations.

As a Data Scientist, you will play a critical role in our data and ML operations. The primary responsibility will be to apply advanced statistical modeling and computer science techniques to develop, validate, modify, and test modeling systems for specific business needs at an advanced level.

* This position is located onsite in Duluth, GA (Hybrid, 3 days per week)

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions.
  • Analyze large, complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Develop and implement statistical models and machine learning algorithms to solve business problems.
  • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
  • Use software design principles to develop production ready code.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project objectives and deliverables.
  • Design and execute experiments to test hypotheses and validate models.
  • Communicate findings and insights to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data science and machine learning techniques.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior data scientists.

Must Have Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of experience
  • Or, advanced degree with 5+ years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of ML algorithms and techniques: supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning. Deep knowledge in Time Series Analysis, NLP, Computer Vision, and GenAI. 
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python. Must be an expert in writing ML code.
  • Working experience with full-stack web development (Flask, Panel).
  • Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis using SQL and Spark.
  • Hands-on experience in state-of-the-art ML and DL as applied to large-scale datasets.
  • Hands-on experience with ML frameworks and libraries (PyTorch, Scikit-learn, NLTK, llama-index, langchain).
  • Solid understanding of statistical concepts and techniques. Strong Math background.
  • Solid understanding of feature engineering and model evaluation techniques.
  • Working experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS). 
  • Working experience with deploying and monitoring ML models.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field).
  • Proven experience as a Data Scientist or Machine Learning Engineer. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • 5-10 years of experience manipulating data sets and building statistical models, has a PhD in a quantitative field.
  • Hands-on experience with big data technologies (Spark).
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (Panel, Plotly, PowerBI or similar opensource data apps tool).
  • Working knowledge of cloud computing platforms (AWS, Databricks).
  • Experience with cloud ML platforms (Databricks ML).
  • Hands-on experience with data orchestration tools and CI/CD (Databricks Workflow, MLFlow, GitHub Action)
  • Working experience with FastAPI, Flask, CSS, JavaScript.
  • Expert in deploying and monitoring ML models.
  • Ability to drive projects.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$152,800.00 - $229,200.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
