Intelligent Systems Research Division within Intel Labs is focused on multi-disciplinary research spanning ethnography, design, HCI and AI Research teams to create intelligent systems that can amplify human potential and create sustainable and transparent AI solutions. We utilize multi-modal signals (e.g. vision, audio, speech, language, RF) and AI to train, infer and predict human state and actions and enable physically situated dialog and interactions. We conduct this research in the context of horizontal technologies as well as vertical domains including manufacturing, education, enterprise, and assistive computing for people with disabilities.

We are looking for a Fall 2024 Intern with experience in computer vision, NLP and deep learning technologies who can help with the research being conducted in one or more of our focus areas.

The successful candidate will be working on the topic of multimodal representation and interaction or multimodal AI generation systems. In this position you will have the opportunity to conduct research on training multimodal AI models with efficient architectures and building agents for task guidance and/or enterprise applications. You will be running data collection and annotation experiments via crowdsourcing if needed, and you will be researching fundamental concepts and methods for mixed-initiative multimodal systems, building, and evaluating systems and proofs-of-concept that will allow for the deployment of scalable approaches in real world settings. This research will enable validation of the ideas and the publication of findings in both external venues.

This is an internship position and compensation will be given accordingly.

Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience would be obtained through a combination of prior education level classes, and current level school classes, projects, research, and relevant previous job and/or internship experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

·       The candidate must be pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or any related field.

·       1+year experience in below areas:

·       Deep Learning, i.e. Natural Language Processing, Dialog Systems, Natural Language Generation, Multimodal Representation Learning

·       AI frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, Caffe)

·       Python and/or C++ languages, and Linux OS

Preferred Qualifications:

·       1+ year experience in multimodal dialog systems

·       Knowledge of novel paradigms beyond supervised learning, such as weakly supervised multimodal learning, Human in the loop approach, and unsupervised methods

·       Experience in Multimodal Representation Learning based techniques at the intersection of Speech, Vision, and Dialog Systems

·       Knowledge of NLP techniques such as natural language understanding, dialog management and natural language generation

·       Knowledge of Signal Processing and Vision Understanding techniques such as Object Recognition and Action Recognition

·       Knowledge of Explainability and Interpretability methods and techniques for deep learning.

·       Familiarity with Intel OpenVINO and RealSense technologies

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in

US, Colorado, New York, Washington, Washington DC, California:$63,000.00-$166,000.00

Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience.

Work Model for this Role

This role is available as a fully home-based and generally would require you to attend Intel sites only occasionally based on business need. This role may also be available as our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
