Meta Reality Labs Research is developing future products in augmented reality and virtual reality with breakthrough work in computer vision, advanced optics, interaction technologies, eye tracking, mixed reality, and new ways to map the human body.As a Research Product Manager, you will work closely with research and product teams to define requirements and drive the development roadmap of a new-to-world research platform to accelerate the development of AR, AI and robotics. Our team envisions, creates, incubates, and transfers advanced technologies from research to product. Research product management roles can span the boundaries of integrated hardware/software systems, interaction design, application experiences, user interfaces, and machine learning/artificial intelligence, with the opportunity to collaborate with both the Ph.D. researchers in the field and pioneering product development teams.Research Product Manager (Computer Vision and Robotics) ResponsibilitiesRamp up to multiple areas of unique, ground-breaking research and develop an understanding of their potential capabilities and limitations.Apply product management best practices to creatively solve complex, ambiguous, and novel problems.Provide vision and create roadmaps for development of rapid prototyping environments and research platform, pulling together building blocks and requirements from within team and cross-companyDevelop strategic relationships with peer teams, including research, design, product management, software platform, hardware platform, machine learning, and user research teamsCollaborate with product and design teams across Meta, AR and AI to develop experience prototypes using new hardware/software systems to validate concepts and derive metricsContinually assess internal and external customer needs and opportunities versus technology feasibility, adjusting priorities as needed.Understand the social and privacy implications of future HW prototype and SW architecture decisions – and work to advocate and implement decisions and technologies that safeguard our customers.Have a clear pulse on innovations across the broader computer vision and machine perception community and help us identify new opportunities and look around corners.Minimum Qualifications8+ years product management experience, working with both software and hardware teamsExperience working in Machine perception, AI or RoboticsExperience driving strategic plans with multiple stakeholdersExperience collaborating and working across operating styles to bring together multiple perspectivesProven experience working in ambiguity and working through organic exploration of conceptsExperience bringing structure and adapting to change.Experience thinking strategically and breaking down a problem to execute and gain tractionPreferred QualificationsExperience in early stage/research incubation teams For those who live in or expect to work from California if hired for this position, please click here for additional information.
