Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage a team of data scientists to translate business problems into actionable analytic projects that drive business performance.
  • Identify, adopt, and maintain analytic best practices around predictive modeling techniques, programming languages, and software applications.
  • Establish and maintain best practices for model maintenance, validation, and refresh.
  • Provide business partnership to develop and maintain data at the customer and agency level for use in predictive modeling.
  • Incorporate demographic, firmographic, geographic, telematic, internet-of-things (IOT), and other data sources for analytic benefit.
  • Collaborate with the Personal and Commercial Lines, Sales and Marketing, Customer Experience, and other internal client teams to support corporate initiatives using predictive analytics.
  • Regularly report project status and prioritize as needed based on stakeholder feedback.
  • Prioritize work of direct reports based on input from business partners.
  • Synthesize findings, analysis, and recommendations into JM executive team level presentations that convey insights and recommendations through compelling, persuasive, and efficient story-telling, while maintaining a balance between key insights and mastery of details.

Leadership Responsibilities   

Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in a related field required
  • 7+ years of related experience required
  • Must have experience with advanced use of statistics and dynamic model building, including cluster analysis, decision trees, and other non-linear algorithms, and linear regression techniques
  • Direct experience with large data sets is required
  • Prior insurance industry experience is preferred
  • Must have experience with customer centric, behavioral, marketing, segmentation, and distribution analytics
  • Must have an aptitude for critical thinking and problem resolution and strong communication skills
