Duties:

Collaborate with researchers and engineers of multiple disciplines across Hitachi group companies in the US and Japan, in particular with researchers in big data and development teams to develop advanced data analytics solutions in the areas of industrial solutions, with a focus on both algorithms and systems. A technical background in Internet of Things (IOT) and Big Data systems applied to transportation, power, or manufacturing industry is desirable. Design and develop algorithms and solution using Machine Learning and Big Data Analytics to solve industrial problems. Initial tasks will include analyzing and modeling time series data using advanced statistical methods and developing machine learning models for demand forecasting. Build document clustering, topic analysis, text classification, named entity recognition, sentiment analysis, and part-of-speech tagging methods for unstructured and semi-structured data. Cluster and analyze large amounts of user-generated content and process data in large-scale environments, preferably using Amazon AWS, Hadoop and Spark. Develop and perform text classification using different machine learning models which also include deep learning. Develop methods to support and drive customer engagements focused on advanced analytics in diverse domains such as energy, power, manufacturing, etc. Disseminate results through written reports and oral presentations.

Minimum education and experience required:

  • PhD degree or equivalent in Computer Science, or a related field (Employer will accept all required coursework completed toward a Doctorate degree as meeting the degree requirement) OR a Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, or a related field plus 3 years of Machine Learning experience or related field.

Skills required:

  • Machine Learning and Programming languages experience.

  • Deep Learning experience.

  • Experience with Prompt Engineering.

  • Artificial Intelligence experience. 

  • Experience with Natural Language Processing and large language models.  

  • Cloud Computing experience. 

  • Sentiment Analysis experience. 

  • Technical Writing experience. 

  • Big Data Analysis experience. 

  • Time series and sequence data analytics experience. 

  • Video, image and Spatial data analytic experience.

For California only (as required by California’s Pay Transparency for Pay Equity Act (SB 1162): The expected salary for this position in our California office is $168,154 - $175,000 . Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area. Employees are eligible to participate in Hitachi America’s variable pay program, subject to the program’s conditions and restrictions.
