We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Machine Learning Engineer with expertise in large language models (LLMs), AI agent systems, and associated technologies. The ideal candidate will have experience working with OpenAI APIs, designing and developing agent-based systems, and integrating AI capabilities into real-world applications to advance research in healthcare.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and implement solutions leveraging large language models (e.g., GPT, OpenAI APIs).
• Build and refine AI agent systems for healthcare research applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for research-driven AI implementation.
• Create prototypes, provide technical documentation, and ensure successful deployment of AI solutions.
• Stay up to date with advancements in LLMs and AI agent technologies to inform the development of state-of-the-art approaches tailored to the project needs.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Design software and data structures.

  • Perform data analysis, ETL and feature engineering.

  • Design, train and evaluate ML models.

  • Design and implement ML applications.

  • Demonstrate good judgment in escalation of issues in addition to providing ongoing project status updates to managers.

  • Take ownership of issues escalated by others.

  • Function as an individual contributor and a team player.

  • Ongoing communication, feedback and follow through.

  • Provide guidance and support to colleagues. Participate in multidisciplinary project teams and collaborate with team members.

  • Participate in training as required by job duties to remain current with technological changes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • 3-5 years related professional experience required, including 2 years in hands-on development of machine learning models.

  • Proficient in Python.

  • Excellent understanding of data structures and algorithms.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Practical experience with popular classic and deep learning frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow and MXNet and in using machine learning cloud services and API such as Amazon ML, Amazon SageMaker and Google Cloud AI.

  • Ability to write efficient and clear programming code and create data structures for support and enhancement of clinical systems within the Medical Center.

  • Ability to perform data analysis, ETL and feature engineering.

  • Advanced technical computer skills as required for technical support specific to functional area and related systems.

Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Social/Environmental Requirements:

Work requires close attention to task for work to be accurately completed. Intermittent breaks during the work day do not compromise the work.

Work is varied every day, and the employee needs to be adaptable to respond to these changes and use independent judgment and manage priorities.
