Overview
As a Lead Data Scientist on the Restaurant Pricing and Performance Insights team, you will serve a split role between two sub-teams: Restaurant Pricing and Restaurant Performance Insights. We are looking for an individual with strong analytical and research skills, a strong understanding of statistics and statistical modeling, a basic understanding of modern machine learning and its mathematical underpinnings, and strong programming skills in SQL, R and/or Python. We are seeking a quick learner who is passionate about using analytics to derive clear, actionable insights from large datasets. This individual should be comfortable and competent working with partners to understand business problems, working through data challenges, and conveying clear and compelling insights.
In this role, you will help develop and implement the pricing strategy utilized in Chick-fil-A restaurants through leading technically complex role-specific project work. This technical work is the basis for all our pricing model development and refinement. In addition, you will use a limited set of advanced modeling approaches to optimize our understanding of Restaurant performance to describe trends and predict impacts to Chick-fil-A’s sales and profits. Lead Data Scientists in Restaurant Pricing & Performance Insights analyze data and apply statistical methods, algorithms, and infrastructure to complex projects, requiring expertise in statistical modeling, algorithm design and compute architecture. The Lead Data Scientist operates with significant autonomy on complex, cross-functional projects. This is a professional career track role.

Responsibilities
The person who fills this role will be expected to do the following as a part of their regular work responsibilities:
- Analyze data and apply or develop models, algorithms, and/or simulations to develop or enhance pricing strategies
- Perform statistical analysis to establish causal relationships between drivers and outcomes
- Automate current processes to increase efficiency and eliminate errors
- Design and implement analytic workflows
- Act as an individual contributor on project engagements and be responsible for implementing data science best practices in their work
- Develop and manage models, workflows, and/or code in support of their specific project work
- Own and oversee the quality, documentation, and performance of models and code for all project work
- Perform ad-hoc analysis as necessary to support project work
Minimum Qualifications
- 3-5 years’ experience
- Has strong analytical and research skills
- Has strong written and verbal communication skills
- Has a strong understanding of statistics and statistical modeling
- Has a basic understanding of modern machine learning and its mathematical underpinnings
- Has strong programming skills in SQL, R and/or Python
- Has the skill to partner with cross-functional teams using strong written and verbal communication
- Exhibits strong emotional intelligence
- Is a fast learner and a proven problem solver
- Has a keen eye for system thinking and process design, especially with respect to scalability and automation
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail and rigorous data analysis
- Has a steadfast focus on creating impactful change
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience in advanced analytics and/or data science
- MBA or Masters’ Degree in a quantitative field, like Business Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, or other similar fields
- Has specific experience working with pricing in retail or hospitality
- Has experience with price elasticity analysis and modeling
- Has some experience using the AWS big data technology stack
- Has some experience developing advanced statistical models
- Has some experience using Databricks
